Printer is WARRANTY, But I can't use it for almost a month now.  email this discussion to a friend?

A client bought a printer that printer is covered/warranty for a year. But from the moment it was installed in the PC. Printer starts showing some problems like:

- autoshutdown
- blinking led indicator
- wont feed / wont print

If you encountered this problem and you want to print a report. But you can't due to many things to consider before it works. You may not make it.

What will you do? Since the printer is still covered under warranty? or from the moment your purchase it. YOu like to have demands on the supplier.

What are the things you will consider before you file a complaint?
What are the things you like to see in the near future from your printer?

i think you should first go to the manual and if every thing fine you are doing then obviously without any single thought go to the service. may be there is any manufacturing defect in the device. and i think they will not have any problem assisting you ahead.

if you are not satisfied with the performance of you printer, go back to where you bought it and have it explained it to you a little farther. or better yest return the printer and then look for the printer that is user friendly. user friendly means easy to understand would not take lots of procedure before you can make a print out. for me i would look for a user friendly and not so expensive one, practicality is more important nowadays.

I would attempt to see what's wrong with the printer. Is the printer really compatible with the computer? I too would look at the manual. But sometimes the technical writer gets something wrong or describes the wrong version of Windows or computer, etc. Thus, I would experiment around because the manual might say one thing and mean another. Of course I would go to START, Control Panel, Printer and Faxes (that's what my computer has), then right click the computer icon and look around.) There you have "Printing Preferences" and "Properties". If all else fails, I would Google or myLot search for the problem, and/or surf to the printer's company site, and/or go to forums for that printer. If none of that works, then I would take it back to the supplier.

Our printer is also really a headache, we can't use it at all, when I tried to convert it to continuous ink, the personnel said, these type of printer was paced out short after its release because of defects, so they can't convert it.

kent_help2smile,

I just want to ask if you installed the driver first before hooking up the printer to the computer, because that's the pre-requisite for such installation.

So, I would suggest that you unhook the connections to the printer, uninstall the driver and reboot before you reinstall the driver again.

I hope that this will work and if not, then, you may need to check if this printer's driver might have any incompatibility issues with your computer's OS. You should have your answers and if there is then change for another model.

The printer works for a month but on the next month the printer is not working anymore until it ended up like auto shutdown.

I would say that this is one case where you will need to make a visit to the authorized service center for a badly needed repair job.

Since, it is still under warranty, I don't think you need to worry about having to pay for the repairs unless, the damages were due to negligence at your end. I'd like to encourage you to do this soon.

oh wow sounds like you all had such a bad luck with the product. I would take it back and have them replace it, but would not take it home unless I test it that it works. If not then get my money back and buy from a better brand.

Hi Kent,
Before I install my printer I have to read carefully the instructions in the manual and if despite following correctly the instructions and yet I would encounter problems I will bring it to the my supplier if it's covered under warranty.

The unit is working perfectly fine for a month on the next month its starting showing problems that leads to this problem.

I would first make sure that I installed it on to my computer correctly. I would read thru the manual to see if I could figure out on my own what the problem might be. If after all that it still did not work then I would definitely take advantage of the warranty. That's what they are there for.

First thing to do is try uninstalling the printer and its software completely. Then try reinstalling, carefully following the steps in the manual.

If that still produces the same problems, then call the Printer Manufacturer's Technical Helpline. Usually provided in the manual, it can also be found at the manufacturer's website.

Because it is under warranty they should help you at no charge. If they are unable to fix the problem they will usually advise you on what to do next.

Depending on the manufacturer, the printer, and the problem, they may do 1 of the following:

- Have you send it to their repair center for them to fix. (again, since it's under warranty they should not charge you). They will send it back to you once fixed.

- Send you a replacement printer and you send the defective one upon replacement.

- Send a local repair tech to your location to do the repairs/replacement.

- Refer you to a local authorized dealer/repair tech to do the repairs/replacement.

As long as it is under warranty, any of those options should be at no charge.

Our client already raised it already in the supplier same as we.

But the supplier always stating the problem is software not hardware.

Yes, we already unsinstall and install the printer but they are still encountering problem.

I just wanted to clarify something: you say "supplier"... was the printer purchased directly from the manufacturer making them also the "supplier"? If not, than I'd suggest going directly to the manufacturer of the printer. There is a big difference in what kind of help you receive if you go to the
supplier (i.e. office supply stores or catalogs) versus the manufacturer (i.e. HP, Dell, Epson).

If the printer was indeed purchased directly from the manufacturer than most likely you or your client will have to push things further with their tech or customer service. Whether it be writing a letter or speaking with a supervisor, you need to get the message across that Tech Support is not helping you with the problem and that something else needs to be done. As long as you make it known that you have followed everything Tech Support has told you and it still does not fix the problem, they should be obligated to offer you further assistance.

I just do not see the point of going to the supplier when what you need is to carry the printer to the authorized service center.

Your exchange period is over but not the repair warranty. So, just carry in!

I would definitely bring these problems up to the supplier. I will immediately call them and have them check it to my place and would definetely request for a new replacement. Newly bought printers or any other equipment should not be encountering such problems like these... I mean, nobody would like his or her new equipment to be repaired only... If these problem occured this early definitely there is something wrong with it...
