Well,my inquisitive nature will normally not make me sit still, So,just like you, I will start a conversation with the cab man. Sometimes, he responds, at others he just snorts. Anyhow, to get them talking just say something not too good about government and they will be filling your whole journey with what the government should do. Rile them up and they won't clam down!

Its not just you I do this when I get in a cab, when I go into a store, or even when customers come into my place of work. Its an easy way to make small talk with people and customers. I find people walk out the door smiling if you are familar and ask how their day is and just listen to them. I treat and talk to people like I want to be treated.

I also ask questions but its about how long they have been driving and I also ask them if they are from our place. I think its sometimes good to do that cause they are tired and if you show some concern about them then maybe they'll like it. Maybe there are only a few people who talks to them and sometimes talking to them gives them and gives you a sense of security by establishing a relationship of trust during a few minuted of your ride.
