My personal beatlemania |
| |
| When I was probably in my teen years, my stepgrandmother bought me a beatles lp. The blue double album call "the beatles-1967 to 1970" Other than hearing the hit "hey jude" I wasn't really familiar with the fab four's music. Maybe once in awhile I might hear "here comes the sun" or "Obla di Obla da" on a radio somewhere, but never owned any of their hits. Until I got this particular gift, so I put it on my record player, and watched it spin. The lyrics and instrumentals were like magic coming from the speakers. I was hooked right away. In 1995, I caught the documentary "Beatles Anthology" on television. Except for the lack of the presence of John Lennon, the remaining members told a very engrossing story. Introducing two new videos "Real love" and "Free as a bird" That was all it took for me to be an avid collector of all their works. I bought every single on of their albums on cd. It was the best adventure I could have ever been on. Do you have a favorite beatles story? What is a particular favorite song of yours? One that means the most to you. Feel free to share | | | | | |

| | Hello Gareth- Yes, their earliest songs were pretty good too. The days when the hair was shorter, and they wore suits. Clean cut music, for a clean cut generation. Thanks for your response | | | |

| | I am also an avid fan of the beatles and even lennon-mccartney songs! I just love their artistry. I liked very much the lyrics and melodies of the song they compose and sung. I love a lot of their songs but the first song that came to my mind as i was reading your discussion is the songs, IMAGINE and LET IT BE. I love these songs, they are probably the most famous ones. | | | | | | |

| | Hello there livvy- For the longest time, I found much of their music a good segueway from the clean cut look, to the hippie style very introspective. They touched on the love, peace, and understanding feelings very well. Even other artists covered their works in some fashion. Thanks for your response | | | |

| | Hello Hatley- That seems to be the song of choice, Let it Be was more of a solace song for Paul McCarney. He often put a lot of emotion in his music, just like with "Hey Jude". Except that one was dedicated to Julian Lennon. Thanks for your response | | | |

| | Im not a major fan of the Beatles but definately recognise the contribution to rock music and rock 'n roll. I although knew of them, was really introduced to them by Whitesnake. I mean, if you look at Whitesnake's first full album Trouble (19878), you may notice that they have a song ont here called Day Tripper which ofcourse is a Beatles cover. Now, the Whitesnake version is more suited to my taste but, I really do like th Beatles original. I also like Help! and All My Loving. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Palegemini, I saw the beatles when they first appeared on the Ed Sullivan show back in the 60s. I was 6 yrs old and I became hooked. My dad went right out and bought me their first album and then the second etc etc. I listened to them and collected their music thru all my growing up years. I remember wanting so bad to meet them and being infatuated with Paul and I was just a little girl. As I got older, I came to admire John and George a lot more and thought they were the most talented in the group. Then there was that whole story of Paul being dead and how if you played their album backwards , John could be heard saying "Paul is dead". The theory was that Paul was dead and a look-alike had taken his place. Crazy stuff, huh? | | | | | | |
