LCD vs CRT  

I have several old CRT pc monitors that are now taking up space in my room. they are bulky, too heavy etc. but, they have the best picture as far as true "black"- best color,etc. hardcore gamers somtimes prefer CRT monitors cause of this. I once dismissed lcd monitors,but now I only use lcd (monitors). they use less energy,good color,take up less space etc. plus xbox360 games look amazing on my samsung lcd.

It still depends on what type of LCD you would go. You could also get the HD one so that it is so much superior than the CRT in terms of sharpness and clarity. There are also some technologies already which will totally improve the dynamic contrast ratio so that black colors would be very deep dark black such as the one which has an LED backlight.

from my understanding both if they break i was always told just toss them and buy a new one. they are both pricing to fix.

I prefer CRT monitors, they have much higher image quality, unfortunately each day the CRT monitors tent to disappear, why? because LCD monitors are cheaper day by day, LCDs use less energy, are smaller... bla bla bla... all those supposed advantages, but the LCD image quality is so bad I don't like it.

The vision angle is so poor, if you view it of one side you cannot view the image, the black zones are dark grey instead black, if don't use the native resolution the image is horrible and get distorted...

I hope the new OLED technology comes soon to replace LCD monitors (and TVs)...

As time goes by, LCD becomes much more popular and its quality is better and better. If I will buy a new monitor again, I will buy LCD monitor because it is flat and it won't use up lots of space. CRC is just too big and heavy.

I can just complain one thing about LCD, the picture quality is not as crisp as in CRT but all in all LCD is much better.Its becoming cheaper by the day, it consumes very little electricity compared to CRT and it doesn't heat that much as the CRT does.

CRT are much expensive in repair and much complicated once there is a spec of dead pixel it will spread rapidly and ruin the screen but you can still use it, CRT when the tube gets damaged then its useless.

CRT are getting phased out while LCD is just starting it is already having problems because of the newest product in the market which is LED TV's and monitors, its way much cooler and advanced than LCD.

I think LCD is much better compared to CRT because it has a higher resolution which some can already run through high definition. Which means, watching HD videos through youtube has never been good compared to the younger days of CRT. But you have to protect the screen of it because it cannot stand with much scratch.

well if you use it just for a basic monitor display, a normal cheap LCD will do. but if you use it for graphic design etc, you'll need a more expensive ones. because the cheap ones don't display colours and tones properly. while if you buy a normal CRT (which are cheap) they are good enough

but since the tech is getting obsolete, we'll have to convert to a LCD anyway and it is getting rather embarrassing to use a CRT :P
