What a book! Fascinatingly smooth. a page turner if ever there was one. This book by Louis Sachar tells the tale of a boy sent to a wayward boy detention camp and how he found out the real reasons why the whole dried-up lake was full of holes. They were after the treasure of the boy's great-great great grandfather which was stolen by the teaching bandit, Kissing Kate Bigelow. The story twists and turns and sub-lots meet with the main plot in the last few chapters. I like the flashbacks! Great book. Do read it.
Is it already filmed? I think I would want to watch it.
Yes, it was filmed years back. I saw it on TV once. Some say the film version was great. I like the book better. Do watch it if you have the time.
