Benadryl does work for poison ivy  

I'll have to get it for one of my brothers. I'm not allergic. He's sooo allergic, he makes up for the rest of us.

Hi, carmelanirel. I am very glad that you have found a product that will work for you. My stepmother once recommended that I buy some Benadryl for my kids. She said that when my stepbrothers had a bad cold, she gave them some Benadryl and it drained all of the mucus and cold out of their bodies. I know that this works when you have an allergy. It does work, I agree. I will remind myself to try this, if we ever was to get Poison Ivy. Thanks for the tip and I hope that you will feel much better soon.

Benadryl is one thing I keep around the house at all times. I keep it in pill form and in lotion. You never know when someone in the home is going to have a bad reaction to something. We have 5 people in our family so at least a few times a year something is going to come up. Either someone eats something that gives them a rash or they get a rash from something else or a bug bite gets all inflammed Benedryl is good for all of that. My 6 year old had some kind of rash on his underarm last week. I don't know what cause it, but I rubbed Benadryl cream on it and with in two days it was completely gone. It's a good think to have around.

I never seen poison ivy in my life, so I can not imagine how it looks. From it names its must be poison for human. How do you get it? do you grow it your back yard?. Poison ivy seem not grow in my country, but I can really sure because most of my life I life in city.

Hi carmelanirel! The thing I don't like about benadryl is that it makes me so sleepy that I can function during the day. What I take and YES it works like a charm, is chlortabs which is nothing more than a generic brand of chlor-Trimeton. There's the every four hours or every twelve hours. Now on the four hour one, it says to take either one tablet or two and I take two which works much better.
Another thing that will help you but let me warn you, it's VERY EXPENSIVE but, it works! The product is called Zanfel. It's wonderful for poison ivy, oak and sumac. You have to read the instructions and do exactly as it says or it won't work but it WILL work if you use it just as it says to.
And last but not least, get some round up for poison ivy. There's the regular kind and the one that will kill poison ivy and get out there and kill the damned disgusting plant! We had a number of it out in our back yard but most are killed off but we found more and and you can trust me on this, it too will be killed.

I keep the benadryl liquid around, just in case. Ya never know what you might get into since I'm a wildland firefighter. However, I keep the pills with me at all times. I was stung by ground wasps 2 years ago, now I'm allergic to stings. I was stung well over 100 times, I lost count, lol. Just about everywhere but face, hands and feet, I was wearing leather gloves, boots, but not sure how I didn't get stung on the face, just lucky. I also have backup, one of my fellow firefighters always carries an epi pen.
