Clocks, Fans, Trees and a Bar  

why is the bedroom separate from the house? is it a man-made waterfall and stream? how do you do that? does it freeze over in winter? i hope you can post pics so we can all see it. are all these your ideas?

No the bedroom is part of the house...the waterfall, ponds and stream are indoors. As indoor features they don't freeze over and yes, they're man-made. I'll try and find pictures and post them later. Yes, these were "dreams" I had when I designed and built my house. I finished building in 2005 and have been here about 5 years. AND I wouldn't change a thing...

sometimes it's easier to have a small house. you're forced to have only a few things and it's easier to clean.

we live on a corner lot and both streets have a lot of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. it's always dusty and noisy.

it's also summer here and very hot. we have to collect water late at night and early morning because there is water rationing.

you see, that's exactly what's ironic about our house. the bar is for display only.

my father was a gin drinker in his youth. but when we were younger, he limited himself to 1 bottle of warm beer a day then eventually stopped completely. i know my siblings do socially but never in the house. i don't know how we're going to dispose of it when he's gone.

i hope you can post a pic so we can see your house. yes, open plan helps the air circulate and it's brighter inside. but what about noise and privacy?

if you don't have clocks, how do you tell the time and not get late for appointments?

Sweetie, here we have privacy and no noise at all. We are not to bothered with time. That is what cellphones are for. TATA.

what kind of view? mountains? water? parking lot?

And we just have more side yard than back yard, not our choice.

Buy as many books as I did for 27 years and you'll have a library too!

hills and a steep driveway, you must live in a cool, windy place. i like that.

and i'll choose the yard, wherever and whatever shape it is anytime over the parking lot.

thanks for sharing your pics. i can't imagine walking up and down that long and winding driveway. i like the lone poppy picture best. i used to see beavers felling trees with their teeth only in cartoons when i was a kid. now i know it's true!

I guess that's an option. I have a mini van. Not sure if I'm strong enough to lift them INTO the car then...

no kidding, I'd be afraid it would tip over and I'd have a huge mess to deal with.

oops, you're right. i forgot all about gravity. i guess that method only works for long driveways on level surfaces. so there's no choice but up and down for you. just think of the calories you're burning! if you add swearing, you'd probably burn more!

my parents also preferred a bungalow because now that they're old, they can't go up and down stairs anymore.

sad to say, we do have those kinds of electric posts here and now, they're even uglier because of so many posters of candidates for next month's elections.

you're pretty talented then. yeah, i'd rather have paintings than knick-knacks. they're easier to clean and you don't worry about them falling off and breaking.

a calendar in every room of the house to know what date it is? unusual yet practical, i guess.

a music room without instruments, a bar without drinkers. it's so strange and weird and funny, isn't it? maybe your mom would hire bands and musicians so they bring their own. i still don't know how we're going to dispose of the bar when my father's gone.

aren't you even allowed to paint it the way you like it? at least it would give you some individuality.

Not allowed to paint it the colors we want... part of the strata agreement.
Maybe if I win the lottery, I could afford a detached house of my liking, and then I could color it whatever I want!

are you saying your house has many trees? what else makes it different from others? what does your house have that others don't? what do other houses have that your house doesn't?

we have an exhaust fan for the bathroom and the kitchen. but the kitchen has an electric fan too because it gets really hot when you're cooking.

some houses here have air conditioning for one bedroom but it's really expensive. so to have centralized airconditioning in my country you'd have to be very, very rich.

oh and there was a time we had 3 TVs too. but now, we only need one and sold the rest at the garage sale last year.

you know, that's the kind of bar i like, where people usually have breakfast in the kitchen. i see that in foreign magazines and tv shows. ours has really become a place for junk and clutter.
