To Be Wheelchair Bound  

Sweetie I am. It's not good and getting around can be a problem BUT my brain still works - I'm in a wheelchair not brain dead. Talk to me not my wheelchair pusher and talk to my face not my lap!

i think with me it would be really hard, since ive always been indepance. but i thought number of time i would have to be in a wheelchiar. and even like a few years the doctors told me they cant explain why i am still able to walk, not good but i can walk.
but i see friends in wheelchair and they live almost a normal life. and go anywhere they want too. my one friend wheelchair does like 60 mph. yeah..
so it might bother me, but like everything esle in my life i learn to adpote to it, so dont let him get to down, be strong so he can and be willing to learn to adpote

so sorry to hear what has happened to your father.

to me if that case will ever happen to me, first i would be sad and even ask God why me. but i will never stop from breathing, i'll be glad that i am still alive and be able to enjoy life even disabled one. i will still count my blessings, everything happens for a reason and has a purpose, i will let God lay it down to me. having me family with me is more than a blessings. have a nice day!

It is definitely not convenient on wheel chair.
But as a person goes older and the leg just not
strong enough, one really need support. Hopefully
your father will get well soon. Treatment is very
important too.

It is a humbling experience, especially if it is permanent, and if you have been active all of your life. On the other hand, wheel chairs prevent one from being completely confined to the house for the rest of their life.

wow thats sad. hope your father will get well soon,or learn to accept his condition.and go to his normal life again even without those feet. well i saw this young man on youtube.he has no feet and no arms.and yet lives a perfect life. as they say your limitation depends on what you think.

I have never been in that situation but I am sure it isnt pleasant situation to deal with.I dont think so i can deal with it more year.Its very painful to be in that situation.I know there are many wheelchair bound people and they are independent but still it think being wheelchair bound put certain limitations on you and i am not going to like it at all.

I am sure everyone will feel hopeless and helpless when wheel-chair bounded. As I am working in a hospital setting, I have seen a lot of patients wheel-chair bounded, what more to say with amputated legs. I can imagine if one day I get wheel-chair bound, I will have to learn to take care of myself in different ways with the wheel chair such as how to walk about with wheel chair and how to live with wheel chair. Of course, I will want to have supports from my family to live my life easier.

I wouldn't like it at all. My mother had alzheimer's and she went from walking with a stick, to being in a wheelchair , to being bedridden. It was so sad! I have always been so active and I hope I never have to be wheelchair bound. I ride horseback a lot and I volunteer at a therapeutic riding center where we teach children and adults with disabilities how to ride horseback. I know horseback riding is not for everybody but I'm just so glad that people with disabilities can ride now if they want to. People used to think there was no way a disabled person could ride. It's the movement of the horse that helps a disabled person learn how to walk. Kathy.

I love walking a lot. I love seeing new places and I exploring them through walking. I think I would feel awful if I were to lose my legs. Anyway, I still won't let it make me bounded in the four walls of my room.
