Phoenix and San Antonio eyes to end their respective series | | | | If both the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs win their respective game 6, they'd advance to the second round and that would set another match between these two teams. The winner of the Suns-Blazers and Mavericks-Spurs match would meet in the second round and there is no better match for this round than the Suns and the Spurs. Since Steve Nash returned to Phoenix back in 2004, the Suns and the Spurs somewhat made a rivalry of their own. The Spurs defeated the Suns in each of the series but in a controversial way. It's to be remembered that the Suns lost to San Antonio in a controversial way when Robert Horry shoved Nash back in 2006 which led to the suspension of Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw and the Spurs won the series. With some minor changes but keeping the core players during their rivalry series, it's great to see the Suns and Spurs go at it once again. The Suns still have Nash and Stoudemire while the Spurs have their core of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker. The pitch now is that they no longer have Bruce Bowen and Robert Horry, two bruisers that mattered a lot in their series against the Suns in the past. I'd love to see this match once again, probably for the last time. I'm not so sure about the status of the Phoenix Suns next season and this could probably their last hoorah! I hope Steve Nash could just get his revenge against the Spurs. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | i think you are thinking too much ahead. do not count the dallas mavericks out and portland trailblazers. although sna antonio spurs and phoenix suns can finish the series by winning game 6, the mavs and blazers have their own plans. they want to advance too. the western conference has developed fierce rivalries among themselves. it's like the mavs and spurs now. the game is physically and emotionally engaging for both of the teams. of course, spurs and suns can go at it again. | | | | | | | boybato (2210)

| | I just got it right, San Antonio and Phoenix won their respective series, advance to the second round, and face each other once again. This is going to be another one hell of a series considering the history of rivalry between these two teams. Now that the Suns is a lot better defensive team than they were before, this is going to be a good series. The drawbacks for both teams: Phoenix, though they're better defensively, they are shallower than they were before. No more Shawn Marion, Shaquille O'Neal, Raja Bell, and Boris Diaw. The good thing though is the improved play of Channing Frye, Jared Dudley, Louis Amundson, and Goran Dragic. Even if these players aren't as good as those previously played with the Suns, they have proven that Phoenix could be a team to reckon with in the playoffs. For the Spurs, they are indeed a lot older and just like the Suns, they no longer have some old reliables that they used to have. Gone are Bruce Bowen and Robert Horry who were instrumental for a couple of their title runs. In return, the Spurs have Richard Jefferson and young guns George Hill and DeJuan Blair who are the Spurs bright spots in the future. Though there are some changes, the core group of both squads are still intact. Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire are still with the Suns while Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker are still with the Spurs. This series is something to really look forward to in the playoffs. | | | | | | | Top Basketball Shoes -57% Basketball Shoes at bargain prices: Compare offers and save up to 57%! www.news72.com/Basketball-Shoes | add comment | | | |
