Are you a natural lie detector?

I also like that "Lie to Me" series. I don't think I can tell who is lying to me always, but I definitely am better at detecting it in people I know well already. I think it's much harder with strangers, which is probably why I also admire the fellow's ability on the show.

Since I've taken a lot of Psychology courses in my day, we are taught what signs to look for in body language and facial expressions, but even then--it's not always possible. Some people are just experts at lying!

I haven't studied much about pathology of lying. I don't have a very clear idea bout facial expressions that belies the hidden motif. What I do is a rather simple and time consuming method. I listen very carefully to the person. I observe very minutely his intentions and follow the logical threads he is going through. I know when a man is lying by the contradiction of his words. When a person lies he must demonstrate this contradiction in someway. I watch for it and most of the time I catch people lying to me. Thanks

hi,i am working in marketing field since 22 years and different places to deal with business people and farmers and sub staff....almost i had a record of exchange of words with 300000 people directly and 100000 people through letters/phones/e-mails....so i am proud to say that i can assess if other end person is telling truth or lie,based on confidence in voice..movements of hands and legs etc..

I love Lie to Me! I practically fell in love with the series. And the methods to find out whether the person is lying or not is pretty practical too. I took up some of the methods and tried it out in university. The trick here like the guy said, is to ask the right questions. When they fidget, swallow, hold their breath, playing with jewelry, stick their chest out, change in tone, its all tell tale signs of something. It might not be a lie but its good to have a read on the person you are talking to.

As whether I am a natural lie detector, no, I am not. I have to adopt these methods but it was just for fun and its not easy. Its very very hard. Very handy in a poker game though. haha

as for myself all i can say is yes..and also an investigator at the same time..i know when people lie to me especially my love ones..if i knew at that moment he's lying, i will formulate some questions that will bring him to answer the truth..we would just laugh and he often tell me your a CSI..hehehe people who lies can be detected through their facial expressions and of course, BODY LANGUAGE.. :) i can sense anyone who's lying to me..

First of all, I am not good at detecting the lie if a person lies to me. I always trust the people who deal with me and I think that they never lie to me. I don't know if any of my friends can detect lie easily. The program you said sounds interesting. Where did you see that? I am intersted to watch. I don't like to lie if there is any other better choice.

My uncle can detect lies but not through facial expressions but through logic. I remember when i would drop by his place and he'd teach me how to do this. He always said that if you'Ve collected enough info and still the logic is a jargon then that person is lying.

I wish I were a lie detector. Some people are pros when it comes to telling half truths. I don't know how they are able to sell the lie like they do. It has to be somewhat of a trust factor or something. If you gain someones trust, they are more likely to b believe everything you are saying.

Even if they don't know you, looking trust worthy can do the trick. But there are tell tell signs to watch for if you want to know if someone is lying. If they don't look you in the face while talking, it could be a sign.

wow! i so want to watch that "Lie to Me". i've just heard about it here, thanks to you. hmmm... i don't really try finding out when a people is lying so i'm not observing. but when i do, i can figure out when they're lying or not, just not as easy as when someone you knew for a long time is the one to be judged.^_^

I am fascinated with the series Lie to me. I wish it is available in our local TV shows because I really wanted to see how people can say that the person if infront of them is lying. I think people with this kind of talent is really observant person. It's hard to detect somebody if what they are saying is truth or lies.

I just wish I also have that talent as well...that would be really fascinating. It will be like you were reading a book because you can read a person's behavior and character. If you had the ability like this as a natural detector you can choose your true friends.
