Something is in my wall and its not a mouse!! Help!!

I'm not sure what you've got there. If you were in the UK I'd say it's probably a rat. I can see that you're in the USA but I'm not sure what creatures behave like this over there.

Why don't you contact a local pest control company. Describe this to them and I'm sure they'll come up with some probable explanations. No doubt they'll be able to get rid of the problem too but it will cost you.

Could be a squirrel, raccoon, mouse, rat or most any other rodent. There has to be a hole somewhere that it is getting in and out. With you saying it is in the basement, I am assuming there is no crawl space under the house. Ususally this is the way they get in. Call the exterminator. They will set a trap to get rid of it.

I think it is a mouse, no matter that the scratching is too loud for a mouse or otherwise it can be some bird which has a nest there!

It was on the TV news that there was similar here in the UK and the builders had to break through into the wall to find out what it was after only a couple days of hearing it. A cat had made its way through a small gap outside apparently, and couldn't find its way back out again. It wasn't in too bad a shape and a visit to the vets verified that it was OK. _Derek

Well we are in the middle of no where too and we have had both squirrels in the attic and down into the walls and little brown bats. We also had some birds get in the eaves and a baby fell into the wall. We bought some rodent traps (humane) that we put some bird seed in and they came out and where caught, the bird we had to make a whole in the wall to get out and the bats where upstairs in the attic we just picked them up and put them out.

Yes, it might be a squirrel... And yet, if it has become an annoyance for you then I would suggest you to seek for expert's opinions... It can be something or nothing!! But better be sure of it... Take care...

I would have to say that it may be a bat or even a bird. They may have gotten in from a very small hole by the chimmeny. I would look there to see if there is a hole and if there is set a trap by it to catch what ever it is. However for the time of year it may be a momma and her litter. So if you catch the momma you may have babies in the wall as well. I would see if perhaps in a few months if the sound is still there. If you can stand it that long. Other wise you may want to call a pest control person and have them come out and take a look. Good luck I hope you find it was something simple and silly. My mother inlaw thought they had a squirrel in there wall and come to find out it was a smoke alarm that needed a new battery. So hopefully its something simple like that for you and not a wild animal at all. Any way good luck and I hope you get it figured out soon.

You possibly have a snake in there. Because from what i gather, and the tv shows on snakes, they love to stay in places that are dark, damp, and quite, or sort of their space. So maybe you need to call the guys who capture snakes, or for that matter any animal, and have it out of your wall.

I think it could be a squirrel in you're wall. I can't think of what else it could be. Call you're local exterminator company and have them come take a look to see what they can find. Best of luck!
