Has any woman ever experienced this during pregnancy?

I am hoping and praying that this all turns out well for her. It's such a hard thing to go thru. The last time what consoled her was that when she lost one, the other one appeared to be growing perfectly fine. Then at about 3 and a half months she lost that one as well. I really hope this is not the same. Thank you for your experience. it was encouraging

I am taking her in to the doctor tomorrow for an ultra sound and hopefully we will have some answers then. Until they called late this afternoon, we all were certain that it was a miscarriage. Now they call and trying not to get hopes high but it's hard not too.

Update! We just got home from the doctors and come to find out she did not experience a miscarriage at all. She is pregnant and so far the baby appears to be fine! she is still bleeding a little and they don't know why but the baby appears to be fine so far!

I'm glad that it all turned out well for your granddaughter. I hope my daughters story turns out well too. She bled quite a bit so the doctor initially said that he was 90% sure it was a miscarriage. Now we aren't so sure. The doctor called and said her hormone count was still up which indicates a possibility that she is still pregnant. Also, she isn't getting any cramping and the bleeding is just about stopped. Usually it goes on for 3 to 4 days anyway.

It is strange that she is not cramping. Maybe there was a varicosity or something that ruptured. I am glad they are doing an ultrasound. I did go look up some stuff about hCG levels and they said you still definitely need and ultrasound to know anything definite.She still will probably need to take it easy. I hope she eats iron rich foods. Sid, I am praying for her.

Thanks so much Garden. We'll all be doing some praying tonight. She was just up here a little while ago. She was physically feeling great. Even her spirits were pretty good. I just know she is feeling sure that she is still pregnant and really hopeful. I so hope she is right.

Maybe she should go to another doctor. If she isn't cramping then I wouldn't think she is miscarrying. But she was far along either. I bet she is still pregnant. I don't think the doctor should have jumped to conclusions and said something before he checked further.

I just got back from the hospital with her. You are exactly right! She is still pregnant and all is looking good. We still don't know the cause of the bleeding which is still going on but has slowed down to very little. We talked about that doctor saying he was 90% sure that she had experienced a miscarriage and then not doing any further tests to be sure. Thankfully she was not the type of girl to go home and have a few drinks to soothe her grief.

Well, thank goodness, huh? This just happens sometimes. Maybe the body sluffing off old blood as in the menstrual cycle or something. I would seriously be thinking of changing doctors if this one continues being this way. I really wouldn't trust him when the time comes or if there are any complications. Think about it.

The doctor that saw us today is new to this hospital . She was very thorough and very easy to talk to. My daughter and I both got a real good feeling about her. My daughter made it clear that this is who she wants from now on.

It was not a small spot. It was a lot of blood. The doctor was 90% sure that it was a miscarriage. They got the results from her bloodwork today and now they aren't so sure. Im taking her back up tomorrow for further testing. I told her not to get her hopes up but it's hard not to. I am having trouble not being hopeful now. I just don't want to see her let down again.

we thought this was a miscarriage and we were all pretty upset. Now we aren't so sure. We don't want to get our hopes up but it's hard not to if you can imagine.

Well you and your daughter will be in my thoughts today that's forsure. You should ask the doctor to just check her progestrone levels and if it's low then be put on this harmone that her body is barely producing.. it couldn't hurt

her hormone levels were still high. I took her in to the doctors today....a different doctor. She is still pregnant and the baby appears to be just fine. They were not sure where the bleeding was coming from but it does not appear to be a miscarriage after all. They should never have told her that there was a 90% chance that she experienced a miscarriage the other nite without further tests and followups being set up.

You are so right sid, they shouldn't have EVER said there was that much of a chance that she could lose the baby. As if she really needs that stress!!

Thank you for your kind words, Hatley. I hope and pray also that this will all work out for her. Her last pregnancy was twins. She lost one right at the beginning and the other one appeared to be developing fine. We even heard the heartbeat. And then a short time later she lost it. I am so afraid this is a repeat of the same. We can't even figure where the twins come into the picture as there seems to be none on either side of the family. They did tell her last week that her hormone level was higher than normal indicating either twins or that she was further along than they had thought. Oh well, we'll know more this afternoon I hope when we have the ultra sound.

From what I read they should not take the hormone levels as the key indicator of how long she has been pregnant. Sometimes doctors handle these things in a very callous manner, trying to keep a woman from grieving--it does not work, and it is not kind. I am glad you are helping her get the right care.

Hopefully this will all work out and we will have a new little addition to the family!

I hope this turns out alright. Its tough because we don't want to get our hopes up but at the same time it is difficult not to. It's all odd. She was here last night and felt great....no cramping and the bleeding had just about stopped.

What a scary thing that must be. Even the words, "threatened abortion" sound horrible. I hope my daughter doesn't have to do that. She is such an active girl that I'm sure she would do it but it would be very difficult. Well, we'll know more later today.

She is still pregnant!!!

the other nite she was bleeding quite a bit. She went up to the emergency room. The bleeding slowed down and they told her that they were 90% sure that she lost the baby. We were all pretty upset. They did do some blood work that night but no further testing. I thought it odd that she experienced no cramping and had not passed any tissue or anything. Then she got a call saying that her hormone levels were still very high and they should not have been if she were having a miscarriage. So today we went up and had an ultra sound. It appears the baby is fine. We still don't know why she is bleeding but she does have to take it easy.
