Did you use tripod frequently with Digital Camera?  

actually, the tripod was invented for SLRs using a very slow shutter speed. Having a slow shutter speed means it takes a longer time for the lens to close and capture the image. This is done usually at night or where there is poor lighting.

For your point and shoot camera, all you have to do is to increase the shutter speed of the camera and you're good to go without the tripod! to do that, DECREASE the ISO of your camera. ISO is the sensitivity of your lens to light

I'm not into camera stuffs, and thus i dun really see the need for a tripod.. lol =D

BUt i do agree that witha tripod, it bring stability to the pictures we are taking.. Because different locations requires different angle of capturing the atmosphere of background.. So, with a shaky hand, the effects wont be that perfect too..

Sometimes, a sudden gush of wind will cause us the quality of picture too.. hehe

I only have a Nikon L14 so I'm just using the smallest antenna tripod which can rise to about 12 inches from any level surface. Folded, it is no bigger or bulkier than a bundle of two whiteboard pens.

Recently, I borrowed a bigger tripod that can fold itself into a cane. It's like I'm carrying a billiard cue stick. I like it for my Nikon L14, but it's too light for a DSLR camera which will easily topple over.

There is one particular use I have for long-legged tripods. I can fold back the camera and hold the other end of the tripod to take a quick self-portrait.

But Canon's G11 is amazing for taking self-portraits. This is because the LCD panel folds out from the side (i.e., it's not blocked by the tripod) and flips over so that the subject can see themselves on the LCD. With a remote clicker, the camera man and subject can be on the other side of the camera.

I've got one two tripods, one monopod and one mini tripod for compact cameras. I don't use any of them though, not after I got lenses with image stabilizers. I am considering selling one of them, as I don't need that much stuff I don't use but then I think that what if I suddenly start taking lots of landscape pictures again. Could happen. Next week after my exam for example :-) So then I keep them and wait for them to get useful one day.
