Do you book cheap airfare ticket long before travelling?  

Yes I prefer to book tickets long before for 2 reasons, first one is that tickets are cheap if we book earlier and secondly if we book tickets late then there are chances that we will not get any tickets.

usually airlines have promotions on the early months of the current year for still very far travel period, so if i were up to date with their promotions, i were able to get a low or cheap airfare...

I actually plan my vacation after I book the ticket. LOL. Sale and discounts on airfair tickets are rampant here in our country, all you have to do is wait for the promo and book online. That's why, I always have tickets a year or almost a year before the actual travel date, and sometimes, I book my flight even if I don't have plans on going, and then just plan the vacation 3 months before the travel date. LOL.

It can really save a lot of money if you buy during promos, it's almost only 20% of the regular airfare price.

I like to book my flight six months before my trip. Then I get a great deal and am fairy sure that I will be able to go on my trip. Late pregnancy is a time when flying on a plane isn't permitted. For that reason I didn't go away in July last year. I bought my plans forward to January. I was 18 weeks pregnant on my flight to Cape Town. I sometimes book two months before my trip. That means I need to get away on a vacation at short notice. I do that sort of thing when the weather is cold and miserable in my home country. When my teaching contracts allow I love it when I can travel when it is shoulder season. I wouldn't choose to book one year in advance because I don't have a crystal ball. Anything might happen. Nearer that time I and more certain of what might occur. Life can be full of surprises.

Well, it all depends on what kind of flight one is booking.. IF one is gonna be booking for budget flights, they have to start early in order to take advantage of the cheap fares..

BUt if one is opting for those international flights, no matter how early or late, the fares will remain very much the same.. But ple will still tend to book early, for they wanna be assured of their plans, and not ending up with full flight.. hehe

Ya, it is always good to take ticket before... not just for the reason of price but also the availability.. May be later it will not be available...

Well, I have never traveled by air so far but this year when I will go to another country to marry my love.... Then surely... I will get the ticket as soon as I will get the visa... later she will be doing her process there to take visa and ticket for India so that she can come here with me...

I wish everything will go well with my first flight... and I get her with no worries to my country...

I had booked cheap airfare ticket two month before which is 60% discount.In fact,getting ticket before two month can also have 60% to 70% discount~~~At least in china I promise if you get on the right net you will get the ticket you want

Whenever we can, we try to book our airline tickets months ahead. We make preparations and plans way before the scheduled travel time. It's cheaper that way and we make plans better. But there are times that we have to make immediate trips. Thus, we cannot avoid but purchase it at a higher price.

Although it is a risk but yes I already did that a couple of times. It paid off actually as long as there is no conflicting schedule. Imagine saving around 50% for cheap seats to Vietnam.

yes. tickets tend to go higher when the date that you want to leave gets closer. i guess the reason for this is that there are 'promo' tickets. although they are not advertised, some tickets are considered promo because they are much cheaper but they have a lot of restrictions. such as it's not transferable, not rebookable, that kind of stuff. tickets even if they have the same service class have different fare basis. say even if you're on the economy class, you're ticket might be priced differently than an another economy passenger on the same flight.
