How has history affected your life?  

I have connections to a native American Indian tribe, and my ancestors would not have been in Oklahoma if the United States government had not forced them onto a reservation.

Well not much! We Greeks have been here since 5000 BC! We've been conquered by Turkey for 400 years and by Germans at WWII but never changed our stubborn minds either our language or religion.

how did you know the history of your great grand parents? So you saying that you are jewish or belong to another country instead in america?

Like you, my Jewish family had to run away from the cruel russian cosaks, and from the Nazis. But instead of going West to the USA they went East to Shanghai where my father and mother were born.
If you go to my site www.davidorbach.com you will see a galery of pictures taken by my grand father of the Japs invading Shanghai in 1937. After Pearl Harbour the Japs put civilians in concentration camps and all my family where 3 member of my family passed away, May G.od avenge their blood. In fact the Us army did the job with Hiroshima and Nagazaki. In 1949 the cruel communists of Mao took the power and stole the real estate of my family.
We had to leave China because of the Korean War in 1950. The general chief of staff of the US wanted to use nuclear weapon against north Corea. But he was fired by President Truman. I think it was a mistake, because North Corea and Iran really want a nuclear confrontation.

A lot of events in history have affected my life. My great-grandpa's brother is MIA from World War II. My great-grandpa's father was an abolitionist in a time of slavery and even helped the slaves and would befriend them on the railroads. One of my possible (doing ancestry searches now) relatives is buried in Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial, after he lost his life in WWII as well. Also, on my Native American side, very little culture was passed down, possibly because of what the boarding schools that kids were sent off to did to my ancestors. They shamed them into the "white man's way". They had to take white names and were punished when speaking any Native American language, very harshly which makes me really sad because as I plan to have kids in the next 3 years, I want nothing more than to be able to teach my kids about that side of my family, nothing more than them to be able to be fluent in Crow/Apsaalooke and Choctaw/Chahta, but I am having to learn all of it myself now, instead of growing up with it.
