Old Fashioned Oil Lamps  

Well I still see these oil lamps because my grandma used that as a decorated piece but now as she is dead since last November so we have taken that and we now share it in the hall so that every one can have a chance to see it.

hi carmelanirel I do not think I have ever seen oil lamps to light
streets but have read about them. Course too I came from South Dakota no oil lamps for towns there, and now am here im California and we still have no oil lamps here in the past though I am sure they were used in the towns and cities, maybe not here but in other states.

ive seen these before but they were gas lamps that ran the length of the street, i think they're fantastic,rustic, and give a wonderful grace to the neighborhoods.

I haven't seen oil street lamps. It will be interesting to see if somewhere, in some part of the world, they do something similar. Not everywhere has electricity yet.

We have some oil lamps for power outages here. My husband lit one when we were on a porch once and the power went out while he was trying to read the ending to a really exciting book. Most of the time, they're just decoration.
