Did you considered Movie capture mode when first purchase your digital camera?  

Price is my first consideration. I just know that it's one of the feature of my Nikon L14. While I use the video mode, I find it inadequate for low light situations. Maybe, when I'll buy my next camera that will be one of my considerations.

But right now, I got to have a Canon G11 because it gives the camera man the capability of taking self-portraits with the camera mounted on a tripod. The Nikon DSLR I want has the LCD panel folding out from the bottom so it's blocked by the tripod.

I didn't consider the movie mode when I bought my digital camera because I'm more into taking pictures and not video.So, I think it depends on what we need. If we prefer to take pictures as well as videos, the movie capture mode should be considered.You are right with the current digital cameras able to capture HD video which is good but I prefer to have a video camera in order to get video shots.My 2cents...

I'm not into cameras at all.. SO whatever features it has in there, does not concern me much.. haha =D As long as it's able to take quality and clear pictures, i will be more than happy.. IF i really wanted a video mode, i will rather be paying for video camera instead, rather than a digital cam with that function.. hehe

I must be very outdated. I even don't know there is such kind of mode:) When I buy a new digital camera, I will consider whether it can take good photos and whether it can record the video. Nikon D90 is a DSLR I like. It not only can take quality photos, but also record nice video. If I will buy a new camera again, Nikon D90 is my first choice.

When I first bought my digital camera. I was not even considering the video mode. I learn to use the video mode untill latter. the video quality on my cam is not verry good. I now used seperate video reconder to shoot movies. it is good to have the conbined feather but I like to keep movie and stil seprate.

when i planned to buy my camera, i searched the net and compare the one i have chosen with the others of its kind. the first thing i consider is its ability to zoom in and zoom out during movie capture. the price goes next.

When I had my first camera gifted to me by my boyfriend I had checked thoroughly if there is the movie capture mode, and for how long it is, for me it is very important because I love making movies, it is a way to capture memories.

No, I don't really think much about it. Maybe if I'm going to get another digital compact, as it's nice to have the option to take movies too, but for an digital SLR I'd look into nearly everything else before I chose based on the film function. It's a neat function to have, but not really very important. I'd like a proper film camera though, maybe one day when I get rich and famous :-)
