Noynoy Aquino on tax collection, contradicting himself |
| |
| I've seen a YouTube link about a news segment from ABS-CBN's TV Patrol reporting that Noynoy Aquino is considering increasing the tax rates. It's really contradicting to what he has said last January 21, 2010 on Makati Business Club that there is no need to further increase the tax rates because all the government needs to do is to collect keenly. Now that he's close to being inaugurated as the 15ht president of the Philippines, Aquino said that because of the looming economic and financial status and burden that the Philippines is in now, increasing tax rates could be a possibility. Now this really got me wondering, did he issue that statement just to get more votes and be more appealing to the people? Since transparency is something that he promises, how could he achieve that when he can't even live up to his own words? Where's his credibility? It seems that this is a signal of what kind of administration we're all gonna be under to in the next 6 years (that if he would last that long). For sure the opposition will give him a lot of headaches and I'm skeptical if Noynoy is capable and ready to handle those. Villar? Estrada? Probably Gordon too? And a good number of senators and congressmen? Those are really either brilliant, cunning, or experienced politicians which are far better than Noynoy one way or another. I see dark days for the Philippines coming. | | | | | |

| | Hello Boybato, Not every one can read between the lines on how they speak nor read between the lines on how they speak. Noynoy's way of changing minds on important issues bothered me first hand, I remember hims saying that he will support RH bill but when the CBCP remind people not to vote those who are supporting RH bill, then he quickly changed his mind from RH to RP (responsible parenthood). Then before he wanted a one on one debate with villar, then gordon and others, but after that he changed his mind. I noticed his mind changing attitude with the help of youtube videos. am seeing a bit of a gloria here. Here's the discussion that made me noticed his "MIND CHANGING ATTITUDE" I can tell, he has no VISION nor concrete plan for the country. | | I guess we just have to wait until he gives the decree that taxes will indeed by raised. I'm not a Noynoy fan nor did I vote for him, but since he's what this country chose to be the leader then it's only right to support him for our betterment. It's not fair judging him for what he hasn't done yet. | | | | | | |

| | He have already given a statement in front of the camera, and yes, we should wait until Aquino really raises that up. The thing about this though is Noynoy is giving out statements and later on changes his mind and contradicts what he has said. It's not a good trait for a president even though he still haven't acted it out yet. He's sending the wrong message to the people, he's not a man of his word so to speak. | | | |

| | You may be right on that he is changing is mind but I think we should also try to look at our past presidents as well. They commit the same mistakes because presidents are also humans. We may be overly critical at him right now which is not bad but we should first allow him to do his act and maybe in the future he might get it right. His term has not started yet and all of this are pure speculations. | | | |

| | Well the majority has spoken and the person that we are trying to depict has not yet seated as president of the country. Let him officially say that in front of the many. All of these will remain a rumor unless there is a presidential decree that say so. Comments on Tv are just like that you cannot rely on that as a basis of his performance in the next six years. Let him lead for the next six months and from that you can safely say what kind of government we will expect from him. But for now, all are just pure speculations. You may be right or wrong in this. | | | | | | |

| | I'm actually giving him that span of time to really assess what kind of administration he'll give but it seems that right now, what he did was to really contradict himself. It was not just rumors because Noynoy Aquino himself was interviewed on television and he said that he might consider increasing the tax rates. For me, I've got nothing against increasing the tax rates as long as it's all for the good of the country. One thing that concerned me is Noynoy contradicting himself. Noynoy should be more cautious in giving out promises or statements because it will definitely backfire. I'm seeing this possible scenario. With what he's done (contradicting himself), it will be used by the opposition against him and that won't be good for his administration and the Philippines as well. His attitude might hamper the Philippines economically. Who would want to make a deal with somebody who can't live up to his own word in the first place? I hope that as time goes by, Noynoy will change and live up to expectations expected from an ideal president (at least close to it). Seriously, I'm seeing a major character flaw in him and good if he's the only one affected but unfortunately, the whole Philippines is. | | | |

| | Yeah, I think most presidents commits that kind of mistakes, and it could not be avoided at many times. We can see GMA has this kind of mistakes herself as well as other presidential candidates around. For now, I would allow such mistakes but when he is already seated he should take note of his reactions to certain things. | | | |

| | I think we should give him a chance. He is well loved by most people by being the president-elect, so we must accept the fact that he will be the next president. We must support him and all deserves to have a chance so we must give him a chance. | | | | | | |
