Dream house: would you buy or build?  

if money was no object i would have my dream house built on a big plot of land. i think you should build anyway thats where the profit is when coming to sell

I would buy a house if ever I can one day because building one will take lots of time and efforts though I know that I will get personal satisfaction from that but I prefer to buy the house of my dream and then less work to do.

Right now we're currently renting a house, but we're in the process of moving into our very first house, which is extremely exciting, but it's such a long process!

The thought of building our own house never really crossed our minds. It takes too much money and is way too much of a hassle to be able to do. The house we're buying, as it is, is a fixer-upper and it's been a lot more work than we thought it would be. We do still get to design the house the way we want, though, and it's the sort of house and in the place we wanted, so we're really excited about it. ^_^

well i would love a beautiful yet simple house. . . .whose inteiors i would love to design! my friend is an architect and am planning to get my house designed by her! ;) i will make her show me various designs and choose the one i like!

even better i would simply buy a nice looking house if i see it soon within my budget! so it all depends on the houses that i check out!

Currently my husband and I are living with his parents. We do want to buy our own home one day, and our plan is to get a doublewide. We have seen floorplans online of doublewide homes that seem to be very nice and spacious. If we were to ever build our own home we would first need to discuss what we would want it to look like... However, to give you some ideas, I would say the basics of a house we would build would be like this : 1. It'd have four bedrooms 2. It'd have atleast two baths, maybe a half bath as well. 3. It'd have a very large master bedroom 4. It would have a nice front porch and back porch.

i just cannot believe that you have 40*40 meters's land,but you think it is not too wide.
you know, in my country, china, we should take at least 50millions dollars to get 40*40meters land in some of the city like Beijing,Shanghai.

This year, I am planning to consolidate all the designs I have researched in the internet, choose the best design and prepare for a budget. I am planning to build not to buy. Because in building your own house, you incorporate your own personal touch, you know that the materials you will choose would be durable to stand the test of time, you can choose your own design of tiles, roof, painting on your living room, your bathtub, all of these details are your own concept. Yes, it will take time, but knowing that you have put all your efforts in it, and you have achieved what you have dreamed, that is the best satisfaction you can get.

Hopefully, this year, I will complete my list. And start comparing prices.

Oh! We have the same dream house! I want also a small place, I don't like big houses as I will not know what is happening in other parts of my house, it's kinda scary. A lovely garden and pond and fruit trees will be there too. I will not need to buy fruits and vegetables but just pick them fresh from my garden. I like to have many fishes in the pond too. Currently I have big aquarium, so I want bigger than that so my fish can have big place to swim. Well, it's just a dream for me, as I live in a small house with so many neighbors that it would be impossible for me to even plant some roses :-(

my family currently stays in a condo that we bought 9but still on mortgage). however, we dream of having a house someday. if there is a house that would perfectly fit for us, then i'd get it. but i think we are more inclined to building our own so it is really customized for us. it would be a modern scandinavian theme, something that we really love because it is modern yet there is still coziness.

A dream house just wouldnt be a dream house if I did not build it. Anyone can buy a house. It is not the same as planning each step of the building process that makes a house a home. I would prefer to be the builder and not just the buyer.
