What do NON-US members think of the following? | | | | I want to preface this discussion by letting everyone know I am really busy in the offline world for the next few weeks, and I will be catching up on my backlog of discussions and messages upon my return online, including this one. I am excited to come back to some good replies. I was listening to an interview on NPR, in which someone from a foreign country said that Obama is much more popular abroad, and Bush was very polarizing. It got me really curious about a few issues. What do those of you who reside OUTSIDE of the United States think of the following and please give as detailed of a description as you have. If you don't know what/who they are, some people will give you their outlook, and they may be slanted, so if you don't know, please simply express that you don't know on that issue instead of taking someone else's word on it, even if they give you links trying to be informative, because most of our media is biased, too.: Some questions may seem a little peculiar, but please answer anyway. I feel they reflect on some political and philosophical antics here. 1. George W Bush? 2. President Obama? 3. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? 4. The tea party movement? 5. Sarah Palin? 6. Eric Cantor? 7. Our version of healthcare reform? 8. Wall Street reform? 9. Corporate Personhood? 10. Amnesty and Immigration Reform? 11. Our media? 12. I may have more when I return in a few weeks, and I will respond to all discussions upon my return. | | | | | | | | | | Web Sites for Hedge Funds Professional websites desiged to meet the requirements of hedge funds. www.completehedge.com

| | "many third world countries have much better health care." Really? Name one. When was the last time a Canadian Premier like Danny Williams flew to a third world country for heart surgery? "26. Our religious practices here? almost as extremist as some of those fanatical you are fighting." Really? What religious practices here are anywhere near as extremist as Sharia Law? "41. Our use of ADD and ADHD meds for our youth? pharmaceuticals have way too much powers...." I agree with you 100% on this one. People are WAY too eager to label kids with ADD and ADHD, pump them full of meds, and give them an excuse to do poorly in school. Apparently that's easier than telling them to buckle down and work harder. | | | | Taskr36 (6781)

| | Oh, I missed one. "36. Our schools? not sure how you people can afford to go to school with the price you have to pay." Public schools are 100% free from kindergarten to 12th grade when most kids graduate at 18 (16-19 is the general range). Beyond that there are many scholarships available that pay some, or all of student's college tuition. Many jobs also help their employees pay for school. Should a person not qualify for a scholarship or have a job that assists them, there are private and federally subsidized student loans available. Through student loans you can go through as much college as you want provided you perform adequately and pass your classes. At the graduate level there are also fellowships and assistant-ships that actually pay you to go to school. I'm getting off topic by asking this, but what does college cost in Canada? In the US the cost of college is dependent on whether the school is public or private and how much the state contributes if it is a state college. State colleges in Florida aren't very expensive, but in New Jersey, where I live now, state colleges cost a lot more (roughly 3 times as much). | | | | | | | Mutual Fund Invest In Money Market Mutual Funds. | | I would not know where to start with this. So I will keep it simple. America is a land of extremes. And your politicians are very weak, too scare of making harsh decisions, in trying to please everyone. 1) You have your capitalists, determined to make as much money as possible, at any cost. They don't care about the environment, the planet, or humanity for that matter. When they die, they are taking their billions with them to start over somewhere else. 2) You have your red neck who don't want anything to change. Those people are living in the 19th century and still would love to have black people as their slave. They are the one having tea parties. 3) At the other end, you have what we call in Australia "The Do Gooders". Those are the people who want to fight wars without killing anyone. Yes, we must retaliate after the 9/11, but don't kill any innocent civilian while you invade Afghanistan. So instead of having a war lasting 3 months, you have a war lasting 9 years, with no end in sight. 4) Nobody has any illusion about the fact that Bush Junior invaded Iraq on the order of Bush Senior. Saddam made a fool of Bush Senior, and it became the job of Bush Junior to avenge the mistakes of his father by taking Saddam out. 5) America's economy relies heavily on the manufacture of weapons. That is the reason why, America has been at war every single day somewhere in the world for the past 70 years. It is also part of the reason why America don't want to hear about gun control. Self defense is only an excuse to hide the real reason. People are being brain wash by the manufacturers of weapons in believing that they will be safe by having a gun under their pillow. 6) America is perhaps the most Christian country in the world. And that's where the hypocrisis come in. Thanking God in every sentence while promoting war and violence against anyone breaking the Christian law. Never mind that one of those laws clearly say "you should not kill". 7) War, you are not even any good at it. Your strengh comes from the fact that you have the most powerful navy and airforce in the world. You have air and sea supremacy by your sheer number of planes and ships. You win wars by carpet bombing whole cities. But when it is time to send the infantry in, you are hopeless. Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, you just don't know how to do it. Lets not forget that the only war you really won was the Pacific, and you won it by dropping two atomic bombs on Japan. That is what you do best. Brute force wins the day. There is no skill or tactical effort in it. Bush Senior carpet bombed Iraq for one month in 1991, and when the time came to send the infantry after Saddam, he re-called the troops home. And the rest is history. | | | | | | | | | | Best Anti Aging Products Find The Best Anti Aging Products. Match Products To Your Skin Type. agingaware.com | add comment | | | |
