Gerbil's of the Caribbean  

I have two gerbils, Gary and Sweep! :) They're brilliant, so funny and cute!!! One of them is gettign quite old now, he is around 3 years old, which is old for a gerbil, they live to about 5 or 6, so he is getting pretty old now. They are very friendly, though they don't like been held all that much, but will come over to the side of their cage and take food from your hand, they're very loving!

They do make a racket though, as they love to chew and will chew ANYTHING you put in there, water bottles MUST be metal otherwise it will be gone in a day!! They also make a huge mess if they are in a hamster type cage as they kick sawdust everywhere!!! A gerbilarium is the best option, these are a little more expensive, but great!! :)

This is a fun video, but it remember me my own horror story with a gerbil. When I was 12, a gerbil called Fanfan was my favorite animal. He was a funny, clever and very familiar brown gerbil. He has his home -- a box -- near my bed and was free to go in my room. I was punished by a teacher because I was going to school with Fanfan in my pocket.
One day, on waking, I found Fanfan dead in my bed. He went near me when I was sleeping and I crushed him .
I had mice after that, but they never replaced my gerbil...

They're so cute.I myself never had a gerbil,I was always into hampsters since I was a kid.I never gave thought to gerbils.They are very cute though.I've had pet rats as an adult.They're pretty fun,but don't live long.

Well I never seen a Gerbil but googled them and they do look cute.So its hard to choose what is better Gerbils vs hamsters.

i had a pair once - very cute animals. they chew through tons of cardboard and playfight with each other. not ideal when you are working though as they tend to be very, very noisy.
