Suns gets back at the Lakers in game 3. Big game by Nash and Stoudemire |
| |
| After giving up an average of 126 points in games 1 and 2, the Phoenix Suns relied on Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire's career night, team defense, and got a little help from the Los Angeles Lakers bad shooting from the three point area to salvage game 3 and their home to trim the Lakers series lead to 1-2 with a 118-109 win. Stoudemire tied his career playoffs high of 42 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Nash had 15 points and 15 assists to lead the Suns which needed an extraordinary performance from both players to dislodge the Lakers. Both the Lakers and the Suns shot poorly from behind the arc, the Lakers hitting 9 for 32 while the Suns hit 5 for 20 but the free throw shooting spelled the difference as the Suns hit 37 of their 42 attempts while the Lakers only made 16 of their 20 attempts. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with a near triple double of 36 points, 11 assists, and 9 rebounds while Pau Gasol had 23 points and 9 rebounds. It's the first time in this season's playoffs when the Lakers lost a game when both Bryant and Gasol scores at least 20 points. Stoudemire had 42 points and 11 rebounds to answer the critics thrown at him. Should the Suns keep the same intensity, they've got a good chance to tie the series in game 4. | | | | | |

| | It was indeed a very impressive game by the Suns but they have to be so prepared in game 4. Kobe Bryant had his way in the fourth quarter especially in the later part of the game where he just attacked the rim at will and was able to score, not really good for the Suns. Also, Lamar Odom was a non-factor in that game and for sure he'll be back some time in the series. However, if Nash and Stoudemire and better yet include Jason Richardson as well, could come up with another superhuman performance in game 4, there's a very good chance that the Suns would even the series up. A major task would be on Grant Hill and Jared Dudley's shoulders since Bryant for sure will try to redeem the Lakers, and of course, they Suns should either do what they did in game 3 or do it better in game 4 against Pau Gasol and Odom. Neutralizing the Lakers interior is a major key in stopping the Lakers. This is going to be a very interesting one, especially if the Suns could win game 4. | | | |

| | At last, the sun shines in Phoenix after three grueling games against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers team seems not interested in a sweep. Most of them are tentative on both ends of the floor. Well, Stoudemire got a good game going for him, and include Robin Lopez who had a terrific game as well. Stoudemire and Steve Nash are the main men on that team. However, they cannot win without help from other players. It's good that Lopez contributed. Kobe and company will have something to think in game 4. | | | | | | |

| | I hope to see a big game not only from Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire but also from Jason Richardson and Grant Hill in game 4. There's one invisible man for the Suns in the series against the Lakers and it's Channing Frye. Frye has been struggling against the Lakers and if he could get his groove back, that would be really big for the Suns. He could stretch the Lakers interior defense outside and loosen up so the Suns could compete for the rebounds. | | | |

| | LOL. I like that, Channing is fried. But as a Suns fan, I definitely want Frye to come up big once again so the Suns would have a better chance against the Lakers. | | | |

| | Stoudemire was impressive as he can be. He defies the critics and this is the best playoff game in this series and in the entire playoffs. Stoudemire was not as good in games 1 and 2, and now he is back to his form. The Lakers will be in deep trouble with this emergence by Stoudemire. | | | | | | |

| | Amare Stoudemire was just a lot more aggressive than he was in the first two games. If he remains that aggressive and Jason Richardson, Grant Hill, and hopefully Channing Frye steps up more, the Suns chances against the Lakers will definitely increase. After games 3 and 4, Stoudemire should remain that aggressive and continuously attack the basket, that's the only way to stop the Lakers dominance inside, get Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, and Andrew Bynum to foul trouble. | | | |

| | Stoudemire can manuever Pau Gasol while facing the basket. His aggressiveness is the difference of the game. I think Odom is a good defensive matchup for Stoudemire that the former has also speed. | | | |

| | I wonder what adjustments would the Lakers make in game 4. Amare Stoudemire just toyed Pau Gasol. Odom is definitely a lot better match-up for Stoudemire defensively, he could move better than Gasol. | | | |

| | The Suns were impressive in Game 3, no doubt about that. But they got a little help from the officials. The free throw disparity worries me. The NBA officials joined in the conspiracy to harm the Laker's chances of winning. What we saw in Game 3 is a replay of the Lakers/Oklahoma series where the free throw shooting favored the young athletic Thunder. The NBA commisioner David Stern has a grudge against Phil Jackson, has had enough of Jackson's criticism of referees. It's almost as if he is trying to set up Phil for another ranting about the officials. He wants Phil's money, no doubt about that. The Suns may have played well in Game 3, but without the help of the officials, they would have lost. | | | | | | |
