Is Lave cake freaking raw and half cook |
| |
| In coffeeshops lava cakes were becoming popular but I have hesitations of eating it. Basically It a cake were inside liquid. I know lots of people see it as a melt in the mouth type of cake. I think this cake is liquid in the inside because its half cooked. So its a bit raw but despite of that, people seemed to like it. This cake is like eating a slightly boiled egg. Its popular in coffeehouse though, | | lavacake | | | | |

| | Hi albert, Lava cake is baked for about 10 minutes in a hot oven which gives the eggs in the batter enough time to cook. The main "liquid" ingredient is chocolate! | | | | | | |

| | I dont know if It's really well done or the bacterias of the eggs were still alive. I know that if it stayed longer in the oven, it will be a regular fully cooked and solid chocolate cake. Have you tried a Lava cake before? | | | |

| | Yes, I have baked them as well as eaten them! Nice comfort food in the sweet department! Eggs in an over at 350 - 400f (176 - 204 c) is plenty of time for the eggs to cook. Quote from: http://www.baking911.com/pantry/eggs.htm (not a referral site): "If the eggs are to be used in a recipe with other food items, dilute the eggs with with liquid or other ingredients, such as milk, or sugar (at least ¼ cup liquid or sugar per egg as in custard) and cook the egg mixture to 160°F, which will destroy harmful bacteria in a few seconds. Adequate cooking brings eggs and other foods to a temperature high enough to destroy bacteria that might be present." | | | |
