laptop on DC power  

my husband is into computers and i asked him. he said usually, you have to have the battery even if it's plugged. the battery is kind of like a breaker. there may be some new laptops out there that will work like that, but not most. you should probably try to get a new battery or a new computer.

you mean to say that you want to run it without attaching your battery???
yes, you can run it without battery, but if you are thinking to run it with out that small box attached with your charger and direct with relectricity, then never try it it is a stabilizer which acts like keeping current in a certain ratio. means if your laptop needs 120 it reduces your electric power to it.
and if you will plug it without it LAPTOP And you too will be sitting out of window hahahaha a shock :P
but without battery you can run it with direct charger

Yes you can directly plug in your DC adaptor and power your laptop. I have been doing it before. Once lightning struck, and instead of frying my lappy and the battery, it fried only the DC adapter. When I asked the technician, he said good thing I removed the battery, if not the battery and the laptop could've friend as well.

You can run the laptop with the adopter plugged in, but the defunct battery has to be in position.

Not many modern machine runs on DC, at least, computer is not one of them. Whenever you try to connect your PC through wall jack, it converts the AC into DC. If you directly feed DC into a coil, it will create excessive energy, thus the coil will melt down due to high dissipation of heat. Theoretically, a DC provides infinite power into a coil. Now your electronic parts are still working on DC, but they are stepped down by a transformer and then rectified and filtered to get the desired level of DC. Its really is a complicated process. You better use an appropriate adapter to run your laptop. You may have to ask the provider for more details, but these details are generally written down in the manual. Thanks

Yes, you can run a laptop on DC power. Actually, if you have power socket somewhere near you it is recommended to use DC instead of battery power. The reason why is very simple. If you are using battery while your laptop is connected to the DC power you are constantly recharging your battery.

Constant recharching means death for your battery because it lowers its capacity which eventually leads to buying a new battery...

Use battery only when you need it...

Yes laptop can run on direct power. My laptop battery has problem. The charge finish within 10 minutes.
But i can use my laptop for long time as much as i want on direct power.
So you can use laptop on DC power.

Yes , you can use your laptop using your charger, you can even remove you battery then plug your laptop and start using it. Silly but this works.

well.. yes you can do that.. actually my laptop battery is dead as you mentioned... so i am using direct power for it. i am thinking for new battery for long time but i think its time for it.

Those new models support that mode, just simply removed the battery then put the socket plug. Actually one of the laptop today's are these battery most specially those 8 cell battery they have short life span.
