Long Term Relationship ending in sickness email this discussion to a friend?

kiwiroo4346 (1)4 years ago

My partner and I have been in a relationship for 36 years.

6 months ago he quit his job and to this day has not worked.

He seems to have lost interest in life completely.

Health wise he seems ok but I notice his memory is going back in time to his teenager years.

He is only 62 years of age.

He recently went on early retirement.

He says everything is ok and he feels fine.

I have to do everything as he cannnot remember certain things.

I cook, clean and shop, and he comes with me but it seems he is constantly in a daze.

He sits home all day while I work and he watchs TV, plays solitude on the PC and thats all.

I love him dearly but he is worrying me day and night.

I would love to go out and attend movies and social functions but he just wants to sit home.

Can somebody help me as I would like to lead a normal life but still remain his lover.

Thankyou

Graeme

hello.. maybe u can ask him why he keep doing that. but u have to choose the right time when u asked. or u can find some interesting activity to do together. i believe he has hobbies like gardening, play chess or bridge. u can accompany him n be a lovely partner. then u can invite ur friends to join u. ask him to visit ur friends, have a dinner,go to church or anything. u have to find out what he like. pls dont give up.. maybe he's just bored n need a refreshment. good luck

Dear Graeme,
Get your partner to a doctor right away. He may be showing the early signs of Alzheimer's, or have some other medical problem. Ask him why he retired. My guess is he was having memory problems at work or couldn't do the job anymore. If the doctor doesn't help, see a psychiatrist (not a psychologist). Don't abandon him now; he needs you. There is treatment for whatever he is experiencing.

Have him checked out by your doctor and maybe he has a solution, hopefully it is not alzheimers, but with todays medice there is always hope! Good luck to you!
