Even knowing that there is no obstacle on the way,why is it not possible to walk backwards faster ? ne clues plz ?

LOL this is a very weird question. well, we cannot walk backwards faster cos we dont have eyes at the back, and subconsciouly we are still afraid that there might be somthing to block our way (eventhough it's stated that it's clear!)
