OK, maybe I am taking life too seriously these days, but I have to say I find it a little ironic that Michale Jackson has now become a "superhero" for the tween and below age groups. There are now Michael Jackson Halloween costumes, the kids sing "Thriller" at school events, there are Michael Jackson's toys, etc. But what really amazed me was that Sesame Place has a new Halloween show, and in it, Elmo (who is supposed to be 3) is dressed up like Michael Jackson! (The show was great, btw). Now, I love his music, and I do think that Michael Jackson is one of the greatest musicians that ever lived, and I remember vividly how he was credited with saving the music industry in the 80s. But am I also the only one who also remembers some of his "activities" in his later years? Is he really an appropriate celebrity for young kids to be emulating? Maybe it is just me, but I do find "Elmo Jackson" to be a bit too much. What do you think?

Suzie- I have to agree that his musical genius is something that will more than likely live on forever. He simply changed and revolutionized that genre of music in a manner that no one else had done before or after. Most simply just follow. I cannot say for certain how I feel about all of the later in life issues. There are a lot of unanswered questions that simply do not add up that I cannot pass full judgment on the man. As far as Elmo, well the man does anything for money. Ok, maybe that is a bit harsh but when Elmo hit Sesame Street he created Elmo Street. Oh I still watch it with my kids but let's face it, Elmo is making more monies than anyone on that show ever did. The man knew how to cash in and well he is living the "American Dream" so to speak lol. I think what I've always loved though from the beginning of Henson's work is that he always wrote to both the child and the adult. If you watch anything created by Henson and his successors you'll find this type of scripting so I would say that the Michael Jackson Elmo is more aimed at the adults who remember the Thriller album then the kids today.
