Burnt out the motor on my blender :0(

Not thinking I was trying to make potato soup and of course it didn't pan out. So I thought I'll try to puree it.... well I didn't add enough liquid to it's satisfaction or something and I smelled that funky burned out smell. I stopped it let it rest for a few minutes and then it wouldn't turn on again, even hit the lil breaker dealie in the ground fault outlet and nothing. Sadly I've only had this blender since sometime in summer. So I guess I learned my lesson & I should of used my kitchen aid mixer instead.
Have you broken anything lately while cooking? on purpose or on accident?

Wow that's frustrating. I haven't burned out an appliance while cooking. But the dishwasher is on the blink! I don't know if this will help. But Target is going to have a $3 dollar sale on it's appliances, like, mixers toasters, and blenders. You may be able to pick up a new one on Black Friday!

I didn't hear about it nor did I go shopping on black friday. I started thinking I don't think it's ment to be and I should probably stick to a submersable mixer instead. Now if I could find the missing piece to that *sigh*

I've been lucky in that I've never ruined any of my kitchen appliances. That said, I've had the worst luck possible with our vacuum cleaner at our house. We moved in here about a year and a half ago and in that time I've been through several belts on the vacuum cleaner and even threw away the filter to a vacuum cleaner. Then we got out our old Kirby vacuum and I burned out the belt on that. We've finally gotten a new Bissell and I've not had any problems at all with that cleaner.

I know of the pains of a vacuum cleaner. I have given up on buying them, I switched to a shop-vac I've had that the longest after having kids. It may clog but it's easier to clean out the clogs and no burnt rubber belt smell either.

Blenders are mostly finicky little things anyway and you can find some for a good price at thrift type stores. I don't use a blender that much, but when I do I am careful to not use it too much, i actually go through all the settings on it in one use because well I'm not really sure why. I guess it's a habit I picked up somewhere.

Actually, now that I think about it, I have never broken an appliance, but that can be because my husband and kids tear up everything before I could ever even imagine to break anything. My oldest son and broken a microwave, my daughter broke our blender, my husband has tore up the mixer and my middle son, well he just breaks glasses and dishes (on accident) but he is clutsy!

Not an appliance lately but just want to add that I was so in the mood to eat eggs today. So after my outdoor assignment I went to my grocer and picked out some eggs. So I bring them home along with my briefcase and purse and I was struggling with the door.
Well splat the entire box of eggs went smashing out of the box. Ugh.. I had just washed the kitchen floor last night and now I had no eggs and had to clean up the filth.

That had to be quite a mess to clean up! That's one thing I truly hate to clean up. I hope you had enough paper towels to do the job, I always hate running out of paper towels (wich happens often as my family members like to use them as tissues

My kids did that for me! Toasters dropped. A whole food processor. Last but not least, a coffee carafe and a juicer. oh ya and an expensive dutch oven lined with silver stone. I've done fine with my equipment! My blender is a Waring Bar Tenders blender. TG. Hubby thought I over did it. Not, apparently.

I am with Chem your blender should have a 1 year warrenty.
I am hard on mixers! Just mix to much stuff I guess, I am always cooking. My worst one was at Thanksgiving or Christmas, the day before and my mixer quit on me in the middle of pies or bread! We had to run to the store real fast and buy a new one. I am picky on my mixers so it was hard to get one that I wanted! In fact I think the one we bought I took back after the holidays and gave back to the store cause I didn't like it! I like it to detach from the stand and that one didn't.
One year I was making Christmas costumes and my sewing machine quit on me, of course last minute prep work! So went to Wal-Mart and got a new sewing machine, I loved my old macine, and the new one was nothing like my old one and I absolutely hated it. My son worked there at the time, and he kept telling me if I didn't take it back he would!! I did return it and got another one. Didn't like it any better so after the costumes were done, and I had gotten mine repaired, I gave the new one to my daughter, and kept my old one. She was thrilled, that was in 1995, I know when my son graduated! She just burned up that machine this summer!

Aww that sucks!
We seem to be going through a spoon burning phase, lol. Hubby burned our pasta spoon, actually burned it in half, the handle fell right off. Haven't gotten around to getting a new one yet and I never realized how much I liked having that pasta spoon for spaghetti and stuff. I mean a normal spoon is fine with elbows and all, but you really need the pasta spoon for spaghetti or fettucine.
Then my son burned another spoon. I asked him to stir something real quick while I was busy taking care of something else.. I come out to finish the meal and my favorite slotted spoon has a weird divot on the side of it from being burned! Worst of it was.. the meal he was stirring had tiny bits of plastic in it from the spoon.

You can use your blender, when you get a new one. Just never fill it over half full and make sure you pay attention so that if you hear it slow down you stop it and add some liquid or even just stir the existing filling by hand to unbind it.
A mixer can never get things as smooth as a blender. Good Luck.

This is really good very bad when ever you need some thing and it become out of order.
For me, I think it never happened at home, but it happened with me in laboratory, some time, I break beaker or other glassware, which I need very urgent and I can know what are the feelings at that time...:)
Be happy and be the reason of happiness....:)
