Medical test has been conducted in Australia and in the UK and there is a significant results that the heat generated from the laptop will caused testical cancer for man and ovarian cancer for woman! Please do more research on this and I have a good friend (a man) who admit he spent long hours at home using his laptop on his lap. No history of cancer in his family and sorry to say, he's very young (early 30s) when diagnosed with it. PLEASE BE AWARE EVENTHOUGH IT'S WARMING YOUR DOWN THERE DURING WINTERS! ;)

Wow I have never heard of this before. This is sad for your friend and hope he has the cancer under control. It is amazing how technology that has evolved so much can potentially harm us. I do not use mine on my lap but my boyfriends mother does for hours on end so I will have to let her know, and inform her to reposition the laptop to the table or something. I do hope your friend is well and thanks for sharing the warning. We will do further research.

hi HWG, Do spread this news to your friends and relatives. In fact, I have heard about this 2 years ago, ever since my friend have testicular cancer. Another girl friend of mine was a IT Leader. She's a smart and hard working woman. Unfortunately, she works too hard and spent most of her time in her IT department. She was diagnosed with Liver cancer and found spreading to her womb. It was final stage, and she passed away last year. She was 30. Computer does produce certain levels of radiation. Just becareful. So does handphone.

Yes, I was also advised by a doctor not to put a laptop on my lap. This is harmful not just for your laptop but for you too. But, I did not know it could cause something like cancer. Thanks for the alert. I will certainly do some more research.

Good thing I live in a warm country and laptop on my lap is simply a no no for me. When they get too hot they can burn your legs and I don't see it's practical at all. I always use my laptop on the desk or on the bed. However I do put the iPad on my lap when I'm in bed but there's no heat generating from it at all. Good post here.

hi toni, I hope this help because many people didn't know about the danger of laptop as they're a very useful tools for many things in our life. Ipad should be OK I guess, but the side effects should be cautious. Do you know most Ipad were developed and installed in China? The workers in the assembly line in China (Apple company) most got sicked and some got cancer because of this product too? So, just stay cautious. Good luck

I've heard about the dangers of lap tops for men before. This is the first time I heard about problems for women. My old Dell laptop never got hot, but the Toshiba I use now does. That really surprised me. I think that it's overheated a few times and automatically shut off.

hi Bob, The danger of today's technology isn't much informed because they sees the pros more than the cons. But for smart users like us ;), it's important to weight both and try to hinder the cons in our life. Good luck to u

Yeah this is just what they went through when heating pads first came out. However, just like the heating pads, it's okay to do, just in moderation, like most things. Personally, I find it more comfortable to use a table.

Yes, I know how a laptop works. A heating pad is a pad that is plugged in like an electric blanket, but hotter. It is used for sore muscles. All heating pads now have warnings on them stating not to use them for a prolonged time and to be careful of the temperature setting because they can cause burns. Both the heating pads and the electric blankets are said to be able to cause cancer, just like the laptops. So while a laptop and heating pad are used for different things, they both generate heat, which is the cause of the cancer in these cases.

hi there, nice to meet u. I dont' know what u mean about the heating pad, but maybe you're referring to the pad u use during winter/cold weathers. The heating pad and laptop is two different type of usage. The fan in the laptop is to cold down the motherboard in the PC. the heat generated from the laptop is harmful eventhough it acted like a heating pad. probably you can do more research on it. :)

this information is really alarming! we all know that laptop is in demand nowadays.Majority of the population uses it anytime and people should be aware of its effects. This means that we have to be careful in all aspects that involves electronic gadgets. Actually I prefer using PC rather than laptop because I'm more comfortable with it. Surfing the net is very addictive so let"s not ignore this kind of warning.^_^

Nowadays, technology is fast improving, there are new inventions and innovations of the technologies. Example is the laptop before it is the PC, now it became smaller which is the laptop then smaller again the notebook, which is portable you can bring with you where ever you go.We are really fast improving on our technologies but we should also see to it and consider the negative effects on it especially on one's person health using it.Manufacturers must know the effects of the technology they produced to inform the public on how to use it properly to avoid the bad effects that the technology specifically the laptop may bring to it to the user. Users must also be aware of the effects of the technologies they are using for their safety.

My advice to laptop users is that they should not put on there lap there laptops. The company who produces this kind of products should try there best to check it so that no one will be affected. Cancer is hard to cure. If someone will be infected the company will be responsible to it.

i believe that is true. most of the previous models of laptops have this common location where the ventilation is placed at the back of the base of the laptop.man's genital organ is affected by the heat that is coming out from the ventilation. man's genital organ is so sensitive and the heats generated by the laptop may cause impotency and worst is testicular cancer. when buying a laptop try to look for those models that the ventilation is placed at the side of the laptop. am glad that the new models as of now address the ventilation problem

It's my first time to hear about this. Anyways, thanks for the info. I would no longer put my laptop on my lap while using it. It is more safer if we will just put on the table or buy and use a laptop stand in order to avoid cancer. It would be more helpful if the manufacturer of the laptop will find a way in order to solve this kind of problem.

Thank you for sharing that issue eventhough some people told me that already. To all the users, they should be aware of that issue. As I observe nowadays, theres a lot of people placing laptop on their lap especially those youth. It's just very alarming because some of them doesn't really know if what's the effect on them. I suggest that they should consult to a specialist if it is really true that it can brought a cancer to those users. Do not put laptop on your lap.
