I doubt she ever really had a chance. The country is just not ready for a woman President yet, unfortunately. I didn't vote for Obama but I am happy we finally had a Black President. I would have preferreed Colin Powell, but oh well...
..Now it's time for a woman, but if Hillary couldn't make it I think it will be hard for anyone to make it..have to give it time

I also doubt she ever really had a chance but I don't think it has much to do with the country not being ready for a woman President. I think she's just shown herself to be too far out in her views and not nearly knowledgeable enough for the job. There are "gaffes" such as when someone simply misspeaks, which we all do from time to time, but the mistakes Bachmann has made haven't been misspeaks but gross inaccuracies.

People argue a lot over whether media in America has quite as much influence as media thinks it has. But when you're constantly slammed and presented in a negative light, it does turn the public against you.
That's not politics; that's just popular culture.
A good example would be Casey Anthony. Now, granted, the hard evidence in the case is enough to make some people want to shake her out. But the way she was served up in the public constantly made a lot of unaware people angry with her.
It's just the way the pendulum swings at times. What's popular is popular and what's unpopular is unpopular.
You can most certainly benefit from positive press, but negative press on the level of politics will kill you where you stand.
For that reason, I don't think Michele Bachmann stands a shot at all. She will be eaten alive if she creeps in on upsetting the balance. There are just too many change agents disguised as media personnel who are all too willing to drag someone through the mud if it serves a purpose.
I think some of it has to do with the fact that she's a woman. But most of it is because she's not a flaming pro-choicer whose public life is about decrying right-wing social issues. She's everything most of American media loathe.

I don't think her chances for Presidency have anything to do with her being a woman....and GENDER OR RACE have no place in a government election of any kind. However, I don't think her chances are that good simply because in so many ways she comes across as being very nieve and way out in left field. This turns a lot of voters off. She also seems to be sort of out of touch with most Americans on many issues. This does not help her out either.
So to answer your question no it is not because she is a woman, but no I don't think she has much of a chance in the race either.
