Happy valentine tirade with two different men screaming at the
top of their lu ngs. This is a peaceful Valentine lunch
celebration?. I was over on the other side of the dining room but both men were yelling at the to of their lungs. I could not see who the two were that were disturbing the lunch of everyone.
I wondered about that then after dinner I was sitting outside waiting for my friend Nelda to come for me to take me shopping. Steve one of my co residents came out and we got to tallimg. He was as disgusted as I was be the racket and the high pitched screaming. He told me one guy was yelling no at someone on the other end of the cellphone.the other was John Douglass whom I had always thought a pleasant man He did smoke too much but so do a lot of others.
It seems he was broke and had asked Sandra to buy him some cigarettes .She is in a wheelchair due to a hit and run driver running her down then fleeing the scene right in front of Gold Crest. Now it seems John had lost his temper completely and was screaming{"b,i.t.ch I will not give you four dollars. Then the language was such I will not repeat it. He owed the money and it had been hard for her to maneuver out to buy his cigarettes. so why did not he just pay her and not act like an idiot? your take mylotters does being in a retirement center mean losing all
m anners?.

The two guys 'behaviour during the meal was not very becoming. They blew their top without so much as thinking of where they were and what date it was. There are so many old people in the retirement center, they hope they can lead a peaceful and happy life. The two guy simply dampened everybody's spirits.

How is it that they have gone to the retirement center at the age of forties?Whether or not they are disabled? They should know better than to do that way.

Because he doesn't have any control over his emotions. Just like some lose control of their bathroom, so their emotions. They get angry and grouchy. i would call him Groucho now instead of John. Some are very self involved too.

Alot of times people let lose on their closest friends because they are there. It is said. This poor lady sounds like she is pretty bad off. Takes a while to heal. Stress doesn't help the body do that either. Hope she learns.

I live ina tralor park they dont know about manners here either. On this proerty they have effeciency apt (misspelled im sure), trailor homes and RV's. There are alot of people that dont seem to care if the whole park hears whats going on in thier home. Or even if the police get called. I just stay to my self and my computer and watch all the craziness going on outside here.

hi jdyrj777 I did the same thing, the moment I finished eating I was out of there and back here mylotting. I hate those kind of scenes'
and always leave as soon as possible. I lived in an apt complex once a lot like you describe where people seemed to have to have high drama with screaming, cursing, and slapping
their wives around. Police cars seemed to be on the s cene most days. We were so glad to find a better apartment complex. I loathe confrontations and get away as soon as possible from anyone picking a fight or raising their voices. manners sometimes fall by the way side.

Well, I wouldn't personally know. I guess some could get so discouraged that they might begin to be loud and irritated from having to be there insteadd of their own place. Of course, I'm just guessing tho. Maybe someone had really ticked him off earlier that day and made him react that day. I am totally just guessing. Is it difficult to stay there Hatley?

Oh my, Hatley, I am just shocked that anying at the retirement
home still has that loud and high voice to call a scream,,,I
am also shocked that anyone at a retirement home would have
at that age, a temperament.
No disrespect to the residents at the home, I just would not
thought that type of behavior would be going on there,,,

I don't think location has anything to do with that. We have a guy in our building (only 10 years older than I am) who acts like that. Fortunately for us, there is a band playing at the Veteran's club next door. His apartment is in the attic of the building (looks like a little chicken coop sticking out of the roof!) and when there is a band there the racket drives him nuts. A friend of mine is playing tonight, and I told him to play loud enough to blow Jodie to hell! :)

hi danishcanadian right there is always one who will scream or
yell about anything These two jerks here really put on quite
a tirade. Everyone was craning their necks trying to find out
what was going on and who was doing the screaming. This sure
'did not enhance our lunch at all. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Four dollars for a pack of ciggies??? WOW!
They are around twenty bucks for a pack of 40's here.
I'm sure that in a place like Gold Crest, people drive each other crazy from time to time. I for one would not be able to handle it.

you know ElicBxn that thought had struck me too. He had seemed
a nice person, friendly and quiet but that outburst was really'off the scales like he is having some type of nervous break down.,
when I first came here they did not take people with mental
problems but lately they have taken people whom really should
be in a place that provides help for mentally ill people.I
guess they are really money hungry and thats a shame as they'do n ot have nurses or a doctor here,javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$cphMainContent$lbStart','')

i didnt know you was allowed to smoke at a retirement home. of course it wouldnt matter now that i dont any more but ive often thought i couldnt go any where like that to be taken care of when i was really unable to help myself because i smoked. i dont any more.
things were fairly quiet here but still there have been times in the past i kind of envied people with someone to do for them.
so i expect though she wont get her money back. @JenInTN (27514)

Wow...I hate that you had to go through that. I always hate it when I am around people that lose their tempers, for whatever reason, and then everyone else has to suffer for it. I can't imagine why he would have acted that way if he knew he owed her the money. If I was her, I certainly wouldn't be doing him anymore favors.
Take care.

dear Hatley,
What I know is, some people as they grow older become irate easily.
While other mellowed as they grow older.
So,I am not sure why your co-resident acted like that.
Unless he is an irate person (that's a character)
So sad that some old folks lost their manners as they grow older (not all)
Have a great weekend ma'am

hi jaiho Yes I have seen that with some here. the lease little misunderstanding and they throw a temper fit like a little' id
having a tantrum. others like myself mellow out as we realize
each day is a gift from G od and we should be grateful for
the gift.I had a quick temper in my younger years but realized
I had best kept my temper as nobody else wants it. lol lol
John had not struck me as a person to blow their top but live
and learn I guess.John really is not that old. probably
around fifty. while this is a retirement center it is not
and old folks home at all. ages range from 30 to 100 but
'a lot of middle aged people have retired here.it is not a nursing home and nobody is bedriddent here. its a retirement center.

Maybe people just too desperate nowadays as they lose the meaning of their life. I would not complain too much as I saw many people had gone through a lot in their lives. I would feel sorry for them. As for me, I would like to live the best of my life as I can.

hi kingparker those two have been here much longer than I hav e and if they did not want to be here, why decide to come here? I had no choice and I do not carry on about my pessoan feeling. Both of them
acted like jerks, and at meal time.I have gone through much more than either of those two screamers and I do not go off on tirades.
A lot of people are here because they chose to be here so why
complain?I do not feel sorry for someone who has to scream in anger over the least little thing. This was a dining room and we were eating.good manners dictate that we all think of others before letting loose our anger. As for me I would love to be able to move out of here.
