Do you have films that you see that remind you of a certain person or time in your life? I do! Rear Window reminds me of my mom, G-d rest Her Soul. I got to see Rear Window On the big screen but back then I wouldn't travel to DC alone. So my mom went with me. But because it was a Hitchcock film , she said she wasn't going to see it with me. But when we got there she changed her mind! I told her It wasn't like Psycho! She would love it. And she did! Now every time I watch Rear Window it reminds me of her. And then there is Bhai! Bhai is my Indian brother I met Here. Somehow we got talking about An Unmarried Woman. He couldn't rent it so I described the whole movie via a PM! Now this film says Bhai. Before it said Mom and Dad. They saw it in the theater and discussed it over lunch. And then there is my dear friend who loved The English Patient. I see it and I think of him. How about you? Do you have a film that reminds you of someone special?

I've never seen the movies you mentioned, but I had to look them up because I was curious. Rear Window looks intriguing! My hubby and I watch a lot of movies, although nowadays we've been watching TV series (mostly those that have already been concluded and gone off the air) through Netflix. I like them because they're like one long movie! Amityville Horror (the 1979 version) reminds me of my dad. He said he first saw it when he was in college. He and his college buddies didn't have anything to do one night (and I don't think they had girlfriends at the time lol!). So they went to the theater to watch it. He said they had trouble walking back to campus in the dark that night after watching it haha! My husband and I watched it with him a couple years ago, and it was ok. I'm interested to see the more recent version now to see what they've come up with since then. I'm not normally into horror movies, but Amityville I didn't mind so much. Pillow Talk also reminds me of my dad because he told us what a cute movie it was. I love romantic comedies, so my sisters and me watched it. It was quite funny and did not disappoint. Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story reminds me of my aunt because she's the one who video taped it (VHS off TV!) for my sisters and me several years back. I watched it eleven times! I was really into that series at the time. I'd read the books and seen all the movies. I couldn't wait till the last movie came out (this was it). I've never watched another movie that much since lol. I think the most I've seen another movie is about three times hehe. I just found out that one of my best friends hasn't ever seen this movie, so I promised her I'd watch it with her - crazy, I know! And this'll be the twelfth time I've seen this movie! I don't know if this time should count, though, because it's been at least ten years since I've seen it. It might actually be nice to see it again. Last but not least, Beverly Hills Ninja and Rocketman remind me of my hubby. He doesn't mind romantic comedies, but (obviously) his favorites are slapstick humor. I wouldn't suggest wasting your time on either of these if you're not into that kind of humor, but my hubby loves to laugh! There are probably plenty of others that remind me of him, but this is the short list. Even to this day, he'll tell you Rocketman is his favorite movie. The best part? We have a friend who he thinks looks exactly like Rocketman, but he's never told this friend so. So silly!

I must confess I haven't seen or read the Anne of Green Gables series.I don't think it is crazy to see a beloved film over and over again. I have seen The Sound Of Music over 20 times And Wizard Of Oz about 16 times. I'm not into gross out comedies but I do like straight comedies. I am not into romantic comedies made after 1992. I like it when there is an equal amount of comedy And romance like in Moonstruck! I'm not into horror , But I love, love action films. I'm the only female in the family that can handle suspense! In fact I love it! I'm glad I'm not alone. Isn't it great to have films that remind you of someone. With me , it is like my mom is still with me every time I see Rear Window And Day Of The Jackal.Day Of The Jackal was one of her favorite films even though it had some suspenseful scenes. I remember waking her up in the middle of the night so we could watch it, pre VHS and On Demand. It was wonderful.

You may enjoy the Anne of Green Gables series if you like older movies. Plus, the plot is good (and unique!), and I think movies that are based on books are always better. I'm glad you don't think I'm crazy for my former obsession with the last movie of that series. I've seen The Sound of Music two or three times. I like that one! I also like Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins. That's another classic. I've seen The Wizard of Oz several times, although I must admit that movie creeps me out a bit. Since you've seen that movie so many times, I have to ask if you've ever noticed the little person who hangs himself in one of the scenes? I think it's when they're on the yellow brick road or walking on a path along the woods. The ordeal happens in the distance in the woods. Kind of morbid, I know, but I had to ask! I know what you mean about romantic comedies after 1992. I have to say that these types of movies nowadays are so incredibly predictable, and I love books and movies I can't predict the most. I'm pretty good at figuring out what's going to happen, so if the plot surprises me, they've done a good job! I watched Friends with Benefits not too long ago because I was in the mood for an extremely predictable, but feel-good movie. It didn't disappoint, but my expectations weren't too high either. I knew exactly what it was about going into it and knew what was going to happen. (Personally, I think Justin Timberlake should quit singing and become a full-time actor - lol.) He and the main actress had good on-screen chemistry. Anyway, a week or so after that, we watched No Strings Attached, which was basically the same exact plot, only a little bit older and different actors - disappointing! I haven't seen Moonstruck, but it looks really good! Plus, I didn't realize Cher and Nicholas Cage were in that one...I don't know that I've ever seen Cher in a film. I don't care for horror, but every once in a while, I get in the mood for it. I wouldn't mind watching that type with my hubby, but he doesn't care for it either. We had one exception, called The Uninvited, when my husband was flipping through channels and got into it. He recorded the rest so we could watch it. I'd say it was more suspense than horror, really. I don't mind suspense, and action is fantastic. The two together make for a great movie. Action is probably one of our favorite genre in movies. It really is fun to have movies that remind me of different people in my life. Isn't that ironic that The Day of the jackal came on just for you at this time (shortly after you started this discussion) so you can share that wonderful memory of your mom? That's too cool! I'm glad you are reminded of those good times. Sounds like you two had a lot of fun together! My mom probably wouldn't sit down and watch a movie with me like that, which is fine because now I have my hubby. She would always complain the TV was too loud, the movie wasn't that great, or whatever. My dad and I would watch things together, but this is something my mom and I were never able to share. So I'm really glad you had that wonderful relationship with your mom. She couldn't have picked a better time to send her love your way through this movie you two shared! I'm glad you posted that second comment. That made my night!

Hello Sarah... There are plenty of such movies, that remind me of someone or the other in my life... Bad Boys, for example reminds me of my pal.. We used to work together and had the best of the times, he is no more unfortunately... I hate to watch romantic movies, as they remind me of 'her'. There are a few hindi movies, which remind me of the people back home and hometown.. There is plenty of it.. And I am kind of a movie freak.. LOL ... Take car.e.

I think I can remember going to see two war movies with my mother, Never So Few and None but the Brave. I don't know that my mother liked war movies, I think it might have been more the case that Frank Sinatra was in both movies, although my mother never said as much. I think we might have also gone to see Cimmaron. My memory of that movie was that it was about Glenn Ford's character, however, when I saw the movie on TV recently I saw that is was mostly about Maria Schell's character who played Ford's wife. I remember once asking my mother to stay up late to watch a movie which unfortunately turned out to be The Barefoot Contessa which was boring for a kid. The first movie I can ever remember was Target Earth a '50's scifi movie. I remember watching it in the dark on a black and white TV with my father. Iwas probably 4 years old then.

The Barefoot Contessa is a Chick flick made in the 50's, completely boring for a kid. the movie I remember seeing as a child is The Wizard Of Oz. My mom loved Alan Ladd. She told me she saw Every film he was in Good Or Bad.

That was my mom's man. Him And Clark Gable. As for being short ,I heard that Hitchcock had a ramp built in Notorious so Claude Rains would become taller and taller until he met Ingrid for a close up. All these tricks, lol.

I remember seeing the Wizard of Oz with my parents. I was kind of a big deal because we went to the house of somebody my mother worked with who had a color TV. I think that was my first time watching color TV. I remember a time later when we went to visit my mothers cousin in Connecticut. Her husband was proud because they had just gotten their first color TV. (A Montgomery Ward no less) We watched bowling which was great until they mentioned the color of one guys shirt. The color on the screen was wrong and my cousin's husband had to adjust the color from red to green. (Today we don't have to worry about things like that.) Well Alan Ladd was sort of a big star, except that he was short. I think 5 foot 6. There are stories that in some cases they had him stand on a box when he acted with taller actresses or if they were outdoors the put dug holes in the ground.

Well, Every time I see The Wizard of Oz, I always think of my mother, because when ever we would all talk about old movies, she would talk about it. One move I have not seen and my mother is looking for is called, I think, Mables Room. If I ever find it I will get it for her. Then every time I see the movie The Heartbreak Kid, I always think of T. Because Michele Monaghan reminds me of T. And when I watch the movie Over The Edge, it brings me right back to the 70's.

I seen Dazed and Confused. I thought that was a good movie also. So, going to TCM I would be able to find the movie my mother wants to see? I will give it a try. Well, I did try looking on TCM. But they did not have it. I did look on IMBD and found it. The title is called Up in Mabel's Room. Well, I just looked back on TCM and there it was. I am going to try and get her that movie. Thanks. Hey Now.

Hmmm I have to think hard for this one. At first no movies came to my mind till I was thinking of movies that make me cry when I see them about a mom and her child or children and the bound that they share. Those moments they make me happy and I cry because I understand those feelings. For me and hubby he always says I'm the hot girl that would have never thought of being with every and he seems himself as the rebel or nerd. So pretty much any time there is a movie about the nerd getting the hot popular girl that always reminds us both of the relationship with have and your difference but we will love and want to be together even though we are polar opposites.

When I was about three or four years old, my Mormor and Morfar (Danish for Mom's Mom and Mom's Dad) got a VCR. They were the first in the family to get one. As a kid, I loved the movie Lady And The Tramp. I remember renting that often, when I went to see them. Growing up my parents were always fighting, so if I wanted to get away from them, I'd go to see Mormor and Morfar. Dad would tell them not to give me too much candy, but they would anyway. Now they are both gone, and I can not watch that movie without missing them.

Oh Girl. Right after I lost my mom I couldn't see I Remember Mama Or The Day Of The Jackal. Now I can see them and I remember her and not mourn her. As I write this The Day Of The Jackal is airing and I feel my mom all around me. Here in the States Lady And The Tramp is on sale on Blue Ray. I hope you can reach the point where you can see this classic and smile and remember Mormor and Mofar. I know they want you to be happy.

there was a French Canadian play who had a character in it that reminded me of my uncle so much. Everything this man said my uncle would say in real life. It was just so amazing that somebody could capture another person's personality so well.

I guess one of the movies that reminds me of my parents is 'For Your Eyes Only'. I keep remembering my mom's face telling me that we (me and my brother) are not allowed to watch it as we were too young. It's for grown ups! And the title was very appropriate so we believed her. When I finally was able to watch it, I said there is nothing so shocking about it. Yet, it always reminds me of my mom.

Two "movies" will always remind me of my Mother. She is still here with us so I'm not waxing poetic nostalgia but when the day comes and thereafter, The Wizard of Oz and the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas will forever remind me of her. The Wizard of Oz is her favorite movie of all-time. How the Grinch Stole Christmas is her favorite holiday "movie" or "special". I've watched both with her numerous times.
