Well, right now in this 'dump' of a place, we can only have one TV, as otherwise it costs too much to run more of them according to the person who pays the bills here. Is that crazy or does it actually make sense, being that running a TV isn't that much money??? Do you know the exact or roundabout amount it costs you to watch or run more than one TV in your household per month and is it really that big of an issue to you?

A friend of mine had this issue with her parents while she was still living at home. Her Dad complained that her TV was costing him a fortune in electric and didn't want her to use the set. I did a ton of research on this with various electric companies and was able to break it down for them. Her Dad wasn't pleased with the results because he was not correct. If you have a TV on 24/7 the amount of electricity it pulls actually comes to $100 to $120 a year. Televisions don't pulls much at all, not like an upright freezer or refrigerator. So having a second television running isn't going to be an expense especially if you watch it for a reasonable amount of time each day. Have a nice day!

Ha, thanks for the info. There was even an issue on using a computer and how much that would cost. In my case it isn't a father, though. It's just a female that acts more like a man than a female and always has with various things. I have even told her before she acts like a man with some things, but she doesn't say anything. I can see how that dad was not pleased with the findings of the cost only being around $120 or less a year, these kind of people like to be right and they will probably still stand by their own belief it costs more. Ridiculous. I would even pay it and they would find another reason to have an issue over something else.

And that is for 24/7 which it would never be on that much here if there was a second TV.

As i am having 2 TV's in my home but the power it consumes less power as before i had my bill in an around 350 Rupees and now it is 430 Rupees. So i think it does not consume too much of power.I have Both the TV's which are LCD and have been having them for the last 3 years and have not any issue with them. It has not been an issue to me as it doesn't effect too much on the monthly bill and it is much lesser than having any other electronic device such as refrigerator, washing machine, etc.

I think the majority of people would agree. If I showed this person these comments, they probably still wouldn't believe it though. Thats the problem. I don't think it's fair that they have one TV and hardly let me use it. They are just ignorant HOGS. I probably help out more than a few here and cause less turmoil, too. I can't believe how stupid some people actually are. Thanks for the response, have a great day mylotting!

Fives years ago, TV fee is paid by a family, so matter how many TV sets in the family, you only need for one. But now TV fee are charged by the TV set numbers. As in my home, there are two TV set now, if we want to use all the TV sets, the fee is quite large. So now we changes to the Internet. As we buy network usage, it is much cheaper than use TV and we can get more information and have more flexible schedule.

Okay so according to this person having more then one t.v. on costs a substanatial amount more? I would say it may cost say $2-3 more per month if even that. One can turn off lights, unplug things not in use, to offset the cost of running another t.v. I mean there is a lot that could be done to "save" money, but not having but one t.v. is stupid. If they are so worried about it why not ask for money from those wanting their own t.v.?

I agree, that is why it sounds so suspicious to me in the first place. I would gladly pay it. The person just likes to cause problems, that is what I have have seen all through my life with them.

You have to find out what the wattage of your tv is, then work out the kilowatt hours (i.e. how many hours you watch tv at the kilowatt rate) and multiply that by what your supplier charges you per kilowatt hour. Simples!

I don't watch alot either, it's just that at night on occasion I wanna watch other shows than just the boring old same stuff they put on here. Then I don't have to sit in there and hear my brother say the same old stupid phrases he uses over and over and also he doesn't "allow" us to speak unless there is a commercial, so it is quite tiresome to watch it when my brother is here every night wanting to take it. I finally put my foot down and get it when my Music reality shows are on, otherwise I'd have to watch it always with him, here. Not fun. I have some friends who offer to let me watch it with them where they live, but sometimes I just wanna spend some time 'alone' watching too.

Here in our place, having extra tv set will surely means increase with the electric bills. If we have the resources and can pay the bill, having each one a tv sets inside their room is much better to avoid conflict what to watch (lols) but, since it will surely add more charges (bills) maybe watch online while using your computer.
