Miami Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown injured his left hand early in the third quarter Thursday against the Detroit Lions and did not return.
He had 68 yards rushing on 15 carries. On his last carry, linebacker Ernie Sims' helmet hit Brown's hand.
Brown shook his left hand as he headed up the tunnel toward Miami's locker room and returned to the sideline with his left hand heavily wrapped and his helmet off.
His hand was X-rayed, but Miami coach Nick Saban would not say if it was broken.
"He does have an issue and he does have a problem, we just don't know the prognosis," said Saban, adding the team would release details about the injury on Friday.
Sammy Morris replaced Brown and rushed 12 times for 91 yards. The Dolphins defeated the Lions 27-10.
