Is a Personal Trainer Really Beneficial? |
|
I've struggled with my weight my entire life but have always done everything myself when it came to losing weight... Everyone knows that's a huge burden to bear alone. I was thinking about getting a personal trainer to help push me along and teach me proper weight management, but I want to know for sure that it would be worth my money. I also have no idea how much one might cost... anyone have any advice?

2. Lindalinda (2880) | 3 years ago | It certaily could not hurt to have a personal trainer, especially if you are a person who needs to be motivated to stay in a program. I know I would really benefit by a personal trainer. As far as cost is concerned check around before signing any contract. Check also with the YMCA they usually offer good programs and can tell you a lot and recommend someone to you.

3. rainbow (3929) | 3 years ago | I have 2 - one for each foot. If you pay a fortune for someone to make you unhappy then you won't afford to eat healthily if at all. Try just doing a little more each day and try lots of new activities to see what you enjoy, then stick to them. Someone bullying you isn't the answer. Have you visited your GP to get blood tests etc, there may be a reason for your problems, or a reason to not suddenly start loads of exercies. Is that a picture of you? I can't imagine you need to loose wieght if it is.

Lackingstyle (7766) | 3 years ago | I think once you hit that frame of mind you're golden; good to go.
Though it's achieving it that's hard, and if it's not there it can make weightloss that much harder.

8. Lackingstyle (7766) | 3 years ago | Having a personal trainer adds abit more pressure (the good kind I believe) like going to a group might, though far more beneficial as to the fact the trainer won’t let you skip without a good reason, they’ll find ways to motivate you and teach the best methods for -you- rather than what ‘generally’ helps.
I think at that stage where you know you need to but you’re mind is really not on it they’d be fantastic and also a lot better than joining a gym.

9. shinobi (338) | 3 years ago | I guess you don't need a personal trainor to loose wait, will power is enough to push you to loose weight. On personal trainors, they're helpful in a way that they encourage you and help you do proper training, and they also help you you boost your morale. But to loose weight, think of it as your gift to your self. And the results will be excellent.

10. acosjo (1117) | 3 years ago | I was in the fitness industry for about 7 years.
1) Yes, it is good to have a personal trainer. Especially if you're not very sure about exercise and what you should be doing.
2) However, if you get a bad or should I say, a trainer that does not know what he is doing, then not having one is just as good.
Go to a fitness club and ask about their trainers. Find out more about them, education, experience, how many clients they have. Ultimately you're not going to know until you have one.
Once you pick one, make sure you ask your trainer questions about what you are doing, don't just take their word for it. Ask them, why have you chosen this exercise, I want my program to be set up in a way so I can see results does this accomplish that, why am I doing these exercises in this order, etc? Don't settle for hmmm's and haaa's.
The key is you want to see results, and if you're not. Time to get another one.
When I taught people to do exersices etc, I always gave a reson as to why it was that way, some don't.
Oh well. I know I have lots to learn though.
