4. desertdarlene (5466) | 2 years ago | I read the trilogy after I saw the movies, or at least after the first two. Yes, there were some things that they merged or deleted that I didn't like, but I felt that the spirit of the books was basically preserved. The books were definately more detailed and you got to know the inner characters a lot more, but the movie did a good job of covering most of the critial details. I didn't like how they portrayed Faramir in the films, though. I thought he was a more noble character than that.

7. Kelian (703) | 2 years ago | I think they were in the spirit of the books, and they surprised me with how much they managed to include. I knew they would have to leave some parts out if they were making a movie, but they did a lot more than I expected, and quite convincingly. I guess the evolution of computer graphics has really enhanced film storytelling. I really loved the film trilogy. Of course, nothing can ever beat the combination of books and imagination.

9. 1grnthmb (898) | 2 years ago | I read the books back in the 70's and after seeing the first movie I re read the books. They have always been one of my favorites and now the movies are my favorite also. Do you know that they are now making the Hobbit into a movie.

1grnthmb (898) | 2 years ago | I also think that the movies did a really good job following the books given the time limit impossed by turning such long books into a movie. There were some incorrect parts to the movie but they did a real good job telling the story.

10. hellbaron (1053) | 2 years ago | calling them as a "trilogy" is the most idiotic thing anyone can do... they are part and parcel of a single story only... trilogy consists of three independent similar stories...

|
Noot54 (4444) | 2 years ago | Of course you're right - the three parter was a marketing thing and no one would have sat through nearly 12 hours in one go.
