Empty nest?

I almost made it. Right before my youngest started college, I took custody of my grandson from my oldest. So we started all over again.

Ooooh...you lucky bum:) But I'm sure you miss them dearly, though. My daughter's only 11, so I've still got a few more years yet. But honestly, I won't mind if she stays with me forever and ever;) She's my only baby...

Not yet, my daughter is two!! My sister moved out a year ago.... I don't miss her!!

Two of our kids are grown up and moved out. The third is a freshman in college this year and living at home. It was really strange as they started moving out. We'd spent so many years taking care of them and then they were gone! It was a shock at first, but still regulary hear from them. We're still the parents, but our relationship has moved to the next level. It's nice!

We're empty-nesters, too, and I'm hating every minute of it. I miss my kids something fierce. I never wanted to raise them to be clingy and unwilling to leave home, but they are, and I'm proud of them. It's just that I feel such an emptiness in my life after taking care of their needs for so many years. I'd like to adopt a child, but my husband is older and not interested in dealing with another child. How do you like it?

We're 'empty nesters'. Our daughter moved out this past summer. I cried for 3-days straight....and then we converted her bedroom into a small home-studio.:o) I really didn't like passing the room by and seeing it completely empty....sooooo. Our daughter joked with me when she saw the room, saying that I didn't wait long....but she knows our door is always open, whenever/if ever she needs to come home.

Although, we are enjoying our "new" life together. It's wonderful when she comes home for dinner, or to just hang out. But it's also nice when she goes back to her home. A few months ago, when I was so upset, I never thought I would say that.

When my sons were 15, we decided to let them move in with their father. He hadn't been a part of their lives and we felt it would be beneficial for them to live with him. It was about a week after they moved out and I was coming downstairs to the kitchen to grab a note pad to leave a note for the boys that I was going shopping and would be home in about 2 hours. Halfway down the stairs I remembered that I didn't need to leave the note. I started sobbing.
