Do you prefer the orginal or the new 'Dawn of the dead' |
|
I can remember watching the old one as a kid and it was so good, now it's nothing like it was for me, but it's still special because i remember it from my childhood. The new one did a great job, i was very pleased with it, so i can't choose one over the other. It's a tie for me. What do you guys think?

Tim8806 (575) | 3 years ago | Thanks for the great response, one of the best i've gotten lol. I could see where the critics are coming from on that one, zombies were always slow until 28 days later came out, now they run and everything lol. I still prefer DOTD over 28 days later, hopefully 28 weeks later will be good though.

2. srhelmer (5534) | 3 years ago | I though both were pretty much rip offs of Night of the Living Dead. But, of the two, I like the newer version better.

Tim8806 (575) | 3 years ago | I suppose, all though DOTD was way better than NOTLD lol, that's hollywood it's all about stealing, but at least if you're gonna still you should step it up like DOTD did.

waynet (1053) | 3 years ago | Yes I agree you have to amp films up to be different from whats gone before, but olympic running steroid abusing zombies!!! I just could't get past this it was too much, I think I should just stick to my classic zombie films and remember the good old days of slow moving stiffs(now I'm being damn dirty) more money was spent on the remake of DOTD but it just didn't have that classic zombie vibe to it, they could have just been extras from 28 days later and you never could tell them apart, anyway this rant is over...on the other hand I really loved land of the dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| 3. wordsmith (30) | 3 years ago | I remember seeing the orriginal DOTD, but it was a long time ago, so I forgot the details. I was really impressed with the new version; it's a great movie on its own. Somehow, I have ended up seeing pretty much every major zombie movie around, without even meaning to. Not to mention playing Resident Evil 4. I guess I really enjoy the genre!

I have been a long-time fan of the original, and see the remake an a different beast altogether, lol.
And the DVD for the remake is worth the purchase alone!
There's a long fake news report following the zombie "infection".
B+ movie A+ DVD

5. JiminySquid (324) | 3 years ago | The only thing that turned me off on the remake is the zombie baby. That was hilarious, but a bad idea. Although the beginning of the remake was remarkable. I love all of Romero's zombie movies, but I'm going to stick to the original!

jcj_111776 (1251) | 3 years ago | I remember that zombie baby. To be honest, it was a disturbing sight for me. I mean, come on, there are lots of people who can be turned into a zombie, but a newborn baby?! Even if it wasn't shown how the baby was killed, a baby is still a baby, zombie or no zombie. When I saw this new version, it really got me thinking. What if they were real? How can we outrun them? The mere thought gives me the shivers.

| 8. conejita2105 (57) | 3 years ago | I prefer the new Dawn of the Dead. The original was good too but it was alot more comical than scary. I like my movies nice and frightening. In the original the make-up was just awful. The zombies just seemed too intelligent with their abilities to open doors and make eye contact and such. It just looked like a bunch of mental patients parading around a mall in blue and grey face paint. But with the remake they were quick and vicious! A whole lot more believable. Just my opinion.

9. Slayer2004C (142) | 3 years ago | I'm unsure...
I saw the remake first.
The original has a... different vibe to it. It has a kinda fun-like vibe but is still quite creepy! I don't know how to explain it. It makes the situation seem pretty fun thoough! Running around the mall and helping theirselves to anything. lol.
The remake had better effects (in my opinion). Well i'm not sure about better. But more modern. I liked that about it. And I thought it was scarier.

10. DawGwath (449) | 3 years ago | The original Dawn of the Dead is much better. The whole story takes you to another level. Not as creepy as it's predecesor, Night of the Living Dead, but still creepy enough to keep you living that apocalyptic feeling.

|
| Deadguy (34) | 1 year ago | I'd agree with this, though I'll say that the difference was that the original made you feel the scale of things right from the beginning, but the remake really didn't do that until near the end.
I thought it was an important element in any good zombie flick, but it just wasn't there until they decide to "make a move for it."
The problem is.. you just don't experience it until later on, so until then, it's just missing. It makes a difference in how the progression of the film affects you.

|
|
DawGwath (449) | 1 year ago | Yeah, can't argue with that, one important element in any horror movie. But the original was a sequel, so you already knew much of the stuff that happens.
