Favorite Writers |

Who are your favorite writers? Why?
Mine's a tie between Stephen King, Terry Pratchett and H P Lovecraft. Stephen King is an amazing storyteller, Terry Pratchett is one the greatest satirists to have ever picked up a pen, and Lovecraft is the master of horror.

misskatonic (2646) | 3 years ago | Anne Rice is one of my favorites, actually. I loved her Vampire Chronicles - thought I admit I wandered away after Merrik.
For some reason, I just can't get into Neil Gaiman. I loved Sandman, but I read Neverwhere, American Gods and a bunch of his short stories, and I just couldn't get into his writing. Which makes me sad, because I'm a very big fan of his. I love his interviews and non fiction articles.

sirensanssmile (2784) | 3 years ago | You stopped after Merrick? Well I think that Merrick was not very good. Blood and Gold was really, really good. I got lost in that one but I have a crush on Maurius though. Blackwood farm was pretty good as well but not as good as Blood and Gold. It has the Mayfair witches mixing with the vamires again. Blood Canticle was alright but it lacked a lot in the end. At least read Blood and Gold it holds the spirit of the first books.

| Fexbox (86) | 3 years ago | I've only read Blood and Gold and Armand, out of the Anne Rice books. I started Interview, but was distracted by something and never went back. Oh, I lie. I've read a bit of Vittorio? Possibly.
I really enjoyed Blood and Gold.

misskatonic (2646) | 3 years ago | I could never get through Blood and Gold. I don't even remember it anymore. I just got frustrated with the characters and pretty much everything. The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned are definitely my favorites. Interview was... well, boring.

3. lossforredwords (2693) | 3 years ago | in abroad i think stephen king.. such a good writer when it comes to horror.. and locally i think bob ong.. i love the way he writes with such light on the character and it makes you hear your lauhgs again..
another thing i like with bob ong, is that he is not attached to the rules and principles of writing. new kind of approached

cyntrow (2693) | 3 years ago | King isn't all Horror, though. Have you read any of the Gunslinger series, or the Green Mile, or any of the Bauchman books. He really is a well-rounded writer but has cast himself in the genre of horror.

Sophie Kinsella is also one of my favorite authors. I loved reading her "Can You Keep A Secret?" It has lots of twists and it definitely teaches a lesson.=)

9. alexdiazgranados (507) | 3 years ago | My taste in favorite authors tends to shift over the years, sort of like literary tectonic movement. When I was in high school, Stephen King was my favorite writer; he could take ordinary settings (small towns in Maine, a hotel in Colorado) and make them scary as all get-out. In college, just as the Cold War was ending, I discovered Tom Clancy when I picked up The Hunt for Red October. Now I'm a fan of science-fiction/Star Wars writers Timothy Zahn and James Luceno. They can take a reader to a galaxy far, far away and yet maintain literary credibility with their prose.
