Report: Clippers agree to extension with coach Dunleavy | | It appears the Los Angeles Clippers are finally ready to reward coach Mike Dunleavy.
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Clippers have reached agreement with Dunleavy on a four-year contract extension worth more than $21 million.
According to the newspaper, the agreement has not been announced by the team because bonuses tied to future playoff appearances are still being worked out.
The reported agreement would more than double Dunleavy's annual salary. He will make $2.5 million this season - the last year of his current deal.
The Clippers were the league's laughingstock before Dunleavy guided them to a 47-35 record last season and within one win of the Western Conference finals. They made their first playoff appearance in nine years and won their first postseason series since 1976, when the franchise was located in Buffalo, before losing to Phoenix, 4-3, in the conference quarterfinals.
Los Angeles was 65-99 in Dunleavy's first two seasons. Before that, the Clippers had only five winning seasons in 34 campaigns.
This season, the Clippers got off to a 6-2 start before losing four in a row.
