Makoy1983 (966) | 3 years ago | martial arts doenst necessarily mean violence. ok, we wont deny that some martial artists are airheads and really wanted to show off their skills. but to most martial artists, martial arts is not just a hobby or a sport, its a way of life, and a very practical one. its self-defense too, and not only that, you could also use it for defending others.
violence exists whether you're a martial artist or not. it seemed martial arts are stereotyed as violent people

zatoichi2080 (2869) | 3 years ago | Martial arts is the opposite of violence .

Cephoozee (337) | 3 years ago | I'm glad that there are people like Makoy out there who will stand up for the martial arts and make sure they are represented fairly and truthfully. And it's true, "martial arts" was developed by Indian Monks looking for ways to defend themselves from bandits and the villagers from attack and to help cultivate their minds, bodies and spirts, not for hurting others.

| esolis321 (72) | 1 year ago | Martial arts is not violence at all it defines some of the greatest values in a person

boy_bato (538) | 10 months ago | Martial arts and violence are two different things and putting them together is out of context. Just for the record, martial arts does not only teach a person how to fight but it develops the person as a whole. Out of it comes confidence, patience, respect, and control.
Though there are some that resort to violence and trouble, in general, martial artists doesn't engage themselves in trouble. Most of the time, people who practice martial arts that get into trouble a lot are people whose martial arts knowledge is so little and they for sure got some serious issues of their own (ie, insecurities).

6. Idlewild (4728) | 3 years ago | I'm not, but a friend of mine is. He does two types of disciplines, both are Japanese and involve swords but I can't remember the names of either of them. He's pretty serious about it, he goes to practice 5 nights a week.

| kezotang (61) | 3 years ago | Do you meant Kendo? From my understanting this martial art was brought down by the ancient sword wielding kendoku, warriors like the samurais. Also Kendo is a traditional swordsmanship technique known as Kenjutsu and it teaches us a decipline of being a good human being with the application of pricinples of of a katana. :)
| |
|
|
Makoy1983 (966) | 3 years ago | that might be kendo or aikido. aikido involves swords too, infact, aikido movements are derived from sword movements

Cephoozee (337) | 3 years ago | Tony Jaa is the guy we've been waiting for, I think, when I speak for my fellow martial arts cinema fans. I think he has something that Jet Li and Jackie Chan were missing, but I'm trying to get my head around it, look for him in the future. I also hear he is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, which is great considering people like airhead Stevn Seagal are running around flaunting their "skill" and forgetting humility. (personal experience)

10. bertus_magnus (240) | 3 years ago | yeah! im currently learning muay thai. i did teaekwondo when i was younger, and i wanted to learn wushu for the longest time, but when i came across muay thai i instantly knew that it was the martial art for me. it's considered as one of (if not the most) the most deadly martial arts known to man.
to learn more about it, view my discussion.
