Is Flyleaf really a Christian band? | | Flyleaf is an alternative metal band from Texas. The band and its members have previously played under several names including Listen, Sporos, The Grove, and Passerby. They became the most prominent in Texas under Passerby, but due to legalities, the name was changed to Flyleaf after they were signed. "A flyleaf is the blank page at the front of a book," explains Lacey Mosley, Flyleaf's vocalist. "It's the dedication page, the place you write a message to someone you're giving a book to. And, that's kind of what our songs are — personal messages that provide a few moments of clarity before the story begins."
Their music is a mix of screamo-esque emotion-based vocals and hard rock instrumentals. The band cites influences such as Rage Against The Machine, Incubus, Soundgarden, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Nirvana.[citation needed] They have toured with P.O.D., Seether, and Shinedown and are headlining their own tour. The band will be playing on the revival of the Family Values Tour. The tour consists of Korn, Deftones, Flyleaf, Stone Sour, Dir en grey, Deadsy, 10 Years, Bury Your Dead, and Bullets and Octane.
The self-titled debut album by the first Texas-based band signed to Octone/J Records, crosses the RIAA gold plateau for U.S. sales in excess of 500,000 units, with the group out on the road for five weeks as part of the "Music As A Weapon Tour" with Disturbed and Stone Sour.
* The song "Cassie" references the Columbine High School massacre, beginning with the lyrics
The question asked in order To save her life or take it The answer no to avoid death The answer yes would make it Make it
and the chorus is
Do you believe in God Written on the bullet Say yes to pull the trigger Do you believe in God Written on the bullet And Cassie pulled the trigger.
However, according to some, Cassie Bernall was not questioned about her beliefs, but a similar question was put to Valeen Schnurr, who was spared by the gunmen. The investigation team that worked on the Columbine shooting came to similar conclusions.[2][3]
* The song "Fully Alive", according to singer Lacey Mosley on a Radiou.com interview, is about Layla Palmer, the wife of Kevin Palmer (lead vocalist of Amity Lane, formerly of Trust Company).
* Probably 50% of the people who first hear one of Flyleaf's mainstream songs don't know that they are Christian.
* Some fans believe that the band's first album is about lead LAcey Mosely's salvation experience.

| xtormented_ (46) | 4 years ago | From what I heard, yes Creed is a Christian band.
I love Flyleaf and always will.. but before I found out that they were indeed a Christian band it didn't change my outlook on them. I guess you can say I love their music more because of the passion and feeling they put into their music. It might be sad and depressing at times, but whenever I listen to Fully Alive or I'm So Sick it makes all the hurt go away and I feel good.

BunGirl (1650) | 4 years ago | No, Creed was never a Christian band and they said as much in many, many interviews. Many of their lyrics however were Biblically inspired, and since the band dissolved the lead singer (can't remember his name... Scott something?) has become a Christian.

| | 4. midnightuser (184) | 4 years ago | wow, thank you so much for this discussion. I didn't realize at first that they were Christian but as soon as I started listening to it I realized it and gained even more appreciation for them. I am not religious at all but I have more respect for this band now. I recently saw them in concert with the Music As A Weapon tour with Disturbed, it was great. Also thank you for the lyrics to Cassie, i knew somewhat what it was about but now I fully understand it. I only recently discovered and Flyleaf and really love them.

| | 5. chuggs (250) | 4 years ago | Flyleaf rocks. I heard in an interview that they did that they are not a Christian band, so to say, but they are all Christains. I think it is a good thing that so many spiritual bands are crossing into mainstream rock, though I am personnaly of the opinion that most artists are already spiritual, and most even in a scence Christian. they just don't conform to the 'mainstream Christian' ways or views.

| | | 8. yourkellyjoanne (56) | 3 years ago | I had the opportunity to see them in a small bar a few months ago with a small crowd of maybe like 150-200 people and it was a very intimate kind of setting. There were a couple of other bands there that night that were supposedly christian, that I had actually seen at church events previously and was outraged that in this different setting, they changed lyrics and songs and added profanity and completely non christian things. I was worried that when Flyleaf took the stage they would follow suit with the other bands, but Lacey and her group stayed true. She rocked the stage, no doubt, but made it very clear what she believed and had no problems speaking her testimony and worshipping on stage in a bar...It was amazing...As many large Christian Concert events as I have been to in my life, I have never heard the amazing response of our small crowd screaming "I will say YES" in the song Cassie...I would say that they definitely are Christian, and if you listen to the lyrics of the song, there is definitely a relationship with God there.

| | 9. ugachaka (262) | 3 years ago | I've never really put their lyrics under the microscope but I did notice the occasional religious reference. I tend to avoid christian music, but I love this band and it doesn't bother me. I probably wouldn't have given them a fair shot if they were introduced to me as a christian band. As long as they don't get too preachy, I'll continue to keep listening and loving it.
