Who here runs a Website and what does it do?   

Classifieds is a tough one. I run a very successful classified, but I already had the traffic as part of my mountain bike website.

When you look at ads, remember, you're competing with huge websites (Provided they are in your area) There is always Craigslist, Kijiji, and others.

Pick a genre or niche that you are interested in.. that's a good thing to start with. Then for the first while, offer the service as free, with free everything.. then maintain a free service, with optional price upgrades. Also, consider how you'll accept payment. If you're collecting small amounts with Paypal, you'll never make any money at all.

You can look for alternative ways to monetize like Google Ads and Bidster to offset costs.

Hosting is dirt cheap these days... so that cost would be negligible... it's the cost of the time and effort you have to put in to the project to realise your return.

I checked out your sites.. I had a comment for your last site. Since that is a business, why are you showing banner ads? That might send people and their money somewhere else!

Bravehost is free webhosting.. thats probably why the ads there, they belong to bravehost.

Makes sense. I guess nothing is truely free. ;)

Does your site sell your book well?

Genealogy? I just got into that this week.. seriously! My GF found some images of her Greatx4 grandmother on the internet after following her family back ... it was so interesting, I started looking for mine... unfortunatly I can't find anything on the internet... at least on the free sites.

You can own a home uninsured? Here in Canada you have to have insurance.. sorry to hear about your loss.

Thanks much.. we had just found insurance to replace the company that up and left the state and so was sitting that morning to write the check and that is when the fire happened.. has been a struggle however we are all still together.

I don't know anyone in the Military... not many people are needed here in Canada.. we don't really fight with anyone.

It's very good that the canadians don't fight with anybody. But you are slightly missing the point. This man and others suffered and paid a high price for the narcism of their leaders. That's personally not fair to them.

All I'll say is that no one is forced in to the Military (At least not in my country). You have to hold your head up high knowing you did what you believe in no matter who spits in your face.
