Author of "To Kill a Mockingbird"

To Kill a Mockingbird was written by Harper Lee. It was first published in 1960 and was made into a movie a couple years later starring Gregory Peck. It won the Pulitzer Prize in 1961 and was Harper Lee's only novel. I always found that shocking. I wonder why Harper never published another book? Maybe it was a false name? Curious...

Harper Nelle Lee, a native of Monroeville, Alabama, which is like about sixty miles from me here in Mobile, and whose father was a judge(and the person used for Atticus Finch in the novel), is the author of the book. She had collaborated with Truman Capote on one of his works, but in the end he gave the credit to his lover, which made her mad understandably. She is quite reclusive and don't give interviews. When I first read her book as a teen, I asked the librarian in NYC did she write any other works, and the lady told me sadly NO. I always loved the book, and watch the movie when I can.
