Controversial subject of Euthanasia! email this discussion to a friend?

If someone you loved was suffering and there was no cure would agree to euthanasia? I agree with it but don't think I could carry it out! That sounds very mixed up.

I understand. It's easy to say yes you can in theory but in action its a lot harder. A few years ago my grandmother broke her hip and she had to have surgery. My mother did not have her living will on record at the hospital so when her heart stopped they did CPR and brought her back. My mom got her living will in after that. My Grandmother past away four days later in ICU. I wish my mom would have had it in from the beginning. She went through four days with machines and everything else attached to her. It delayed her dieing.

If at all possible get a living will for you and loved ones. That way you don't have to worry. You can get them very specific on what you want and don't want. It can make a difference.

I am against it. A lot of people would say that it is better to end a person life than to let her continue suffering. But how do we really know if the person would want to end his life because of his state? I think most people commit this for practical reasons. They have their own justifications that I will respect but I may not be able to accept.

Should dying patients have the right to order their doctors not to start or continue medical treatment? Should doctors be protected from prosecution if they shorten a patient's life expectancy with pain-killing drugs?

Most of us would answer yes to both questions. But does this mean we need a "right to die" law? Or is there more to the issue than first meets the eye?

Public discussion of the treatment of dying patients often confuses two separate issues. First, is the right of the terminally ill person to be allowed to die without being subjected to invasive medical procedures? Second, is the question of whether a dying person should also have the right to hasten his or her own death, and require the help of doctors and nurses to do so.

It happens in our country too. One of the husband propose to the government that his wife should conduct euthanasia. It prevents from his wife forever's suffering in the hospital and keep him from a lot of expense to cover the medical expenses for his wife.

There has been a great debate in our philosophy class about euthanasia. Almost half of the class believe on mercy killing while the other half believe that it's not lawful to commit such thing. Considering the number of people, we can say that we are divided when we talk about euthanasia.

In my own belief and principle in life, I will never tolerate to use euthanasia. It has been said that killing a person is a great sin. Religions and teachings supported this ideology and law. You have no right to take somebody's life. Only the creator can decide when the peson can finally take his rest on earth.

I have seen a report recently on a television news that a person who was unconscious for about 20 years has been awaken. He was young when he was in that state and fully grown man after he woke up. He thought that president Reagan was still the president of United States. If his family give up on him, he will never experienced living on earth again. That is why there is no reason to give up life while we are still living.
