Where were you when you heard about Princess Diana?

I think I was at home. I was little so I don't remember it much. It was sad though. What a society we have become. People around the world are crying over a person they never even knew. What is up with that?

I didn't hear about it until 2 days after it happened. I was camping in the wilderness that weekend and I didn't have any idea until I got home. I recently saw the movie "The Queen" which painted a behind-the-scenes portrait of those few days after the accident. It was a wonderful movie - if you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it!

It was a Sunday morning, and I was in the kitchen, having just put the radio on. I heard the news, and I shuddered quite strongly with the shock. I was devastated and remained so for about a fortnight. Slowly, I recovered, but I'll never forget how I felt. It was an awful time.

My roommates and I were on a day trip, inner-tubing down the Trinity River in northern California. When we got home, after taking showers and eating dinner, we turned on the news and heard about it. To be honest, I was really in shock. I woke myself up so I could watch the funeral when it was on, and just cried.. especially when her coffin came around the corner, where the people could see it for the first time, and people started wailing. It was horrible. It's still hard to believe sometimes.

When Princess Diana died it was late at night in Eastern Canada and I was sitting at my computer in a chat room on IRC. We heard she was taken to the hospital and then shortly after we heard she died...all my chat friends and I had our tv's on at the time. I cried about that.

Speaking of famous people dying...Gerald Ford over the holiday... and James Brown... It seems to me a lot of famous people die in the end of the years... When John Lennon died it was early December, snowing and sleeting where I was that day. I cried for him too.

i was at home, perhaps i was very young i remember that i rested impressed about this news because diana was a great woman. it has been a great loss for us!

I was in Paris, and couldn't believe the news. A few days after, I actually went to London (it was a planned trip) and stayed with my aunt who lived by the palace or castle (whatever it's called it's huge...) where Diana was supposed to be living. There was what seemed to be an endless sea of flowers, messages...gifs...it was unbelievable. And so many people, it was very sad...She really was loved by people. It is just a sad story.

I was asleep on my (then) boyfriend's couch and he woke me up when the news report came on that she had been in an accident. I stayed awake watching the news and saw when they announced that she had died. It was very sad and surreal. I got up very early the day of her funeral and watched it all. This time at my house. Not so much something of interest to the boyfriend. It was all incredibly sad to me, and still is. She was so young and so vibrant. It's a shame it had to end so soon.

I was just thinking about this the other day when they said that the 10th year is approaching. My husband was in bed watching tv and I was in the other room nursing my daughter. He said come here and see this. So I went in and watched and couldn't believe it. We kept it on CNN for hours and when they finally came on and said she passed I was so sad. Sad for her and all her family. But that is one night I will never forget. Same with the night JFK Jr. died. I remember that night very well too.

I have a very interesting story about Diana's death actually... I was about seven when it happened and I was in California. The night of I remember staring out of the hotel window and thinking to myself, "What would it be like if Princess Diana died?"... and the next day it was all over the news.
