Are you familiar with the chinese game 'mahjong'?

I do play and enjoy it, and though some people sort of play it to really gamble, I think it doesn't have to be so. The game is very enjoyable and exciting per se, especially if you play with close friends or relatives. It is very therapeutic, and could keep one mentally alert besides enjoying the game.

My mom is addicted to mahjong. she will sit at her computer and play til 4 in the morning sometimes. I dont see what is so exciting about it or fun.

Mahjong should be played with 3 other people and it is played on a square table using tiles. Playing it in computer is boring, I don't know why your mom enjoys it that way. Maybe she just does not want to 'gamble' by playing it with others. If you play it with friends/relatives and just agree on minimal/small bets, it is quite fun and very enjoyable. Keeps your mind alert too!
