How do you know? Did you ask every single one of them?

People say Merry Christmas to me and I say Happy Holidays right back at them and everybody is happy. I don't celebrate Xmas, but you wouldn't necessarily know that unless you asked me.

I know this really bothers me as well. Its because everyone is scared of being sued for accknowlegding one religious holiday and not another.

I really hate political correctness it sucks.

You know what to each his own don't change the way you celebrate Christmas because some people may be offended.

I usually say happy holidays. I will say merry christmas, happy hanukkah, etc. to my friends, the ones I know for a fact celebrate one of the other.

I myself, don't celebrate any of it.


However, just because you wouldn't be offended if someone said happy kwanzaa to you, doesn't mean someone else wouldn't be offended. It's not just about being politically correct, but having respect for someone else's beliefs.

Is it that difficult to say happy holidays instead?

I used to work in retail and we were always told to say “Happy Holidays,” too. Since then I have gotten really used to it. I guess it doesn’t really phase me anymore when I hear someone say happy holiday, although I was taken aback a little bit when I called our local Wal-Mart and the lady answered the phone “Merry Christmas, Thank You For Calling…” Now, it didn’t bother me at all, but I hadn’t heard a retailer use Merry Christmas is so long it was kind of weird to hear it!

Working in a plant with people from all over the world I can honestly say i know of one man that would correct me, but that's only because he's a mean old man who wants to always be correct.

I say Merry Christmas to whoever. If they're offended that's their problem. They'll correct me and I'll say I'm sorry, but I celebrate Christmas. I didn't realize you would be so offended, and then walk away smiling. But most of the girls at work would smile at me and say the same back no matter where they're from. No matter the religion I think they all feel Happy Holidays just isn't right.

They make you say Happy Holidays to be diverse....Sad but true.

I continue to say 'Merry Christmas', many of my asian friends a muslim and some are Christians, others are hindu and a few are some have no faith to follow, but they have no problem with this, I respect Diwali and Ramadan and Eid they respect Easter and Christmas. Obviously it has not religious meaning for them but they respect that this is my religion as I respect theirs.
So others must respect Christmas.
If were getting all PC or my bosses pull me to one side and ask me not to wish people a 'Merry Christmas' then I'll see them in court.
It is my right as a Christian to celebrate Christmas. As it is muslim womens right to wear her Burkha.

Because when you say Happy Holidays it includes all holidays within the same season for everybody in the world. You may not get offened but there are people sensitive in such matters.
