A living tree for Christmas? |
|
Sometimes it's good to pass on the wisdom of our elders. In 5th grade our teacher gave us this idea, instead of getting a nice big chopped tree for Christmas, she got us a little live one from a nursery, and after the holiday was over we planted it outside to leave something behind after we were gone. I think that was a good value to teach. What do you think? By the way, 30 years later that school was sold to a developer who plowed it flat to put up housing.

2. Polly1 (8516) | 4 years ago | Thats a good idea about using a real tree that you can plant later. I always use an artificial tree. I once bought a small real tree that was decorated for someone that didn't have a Christmas tree. By the way, I also reported that fake dradestar, maybe they will kick him off if enough people report him. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

4. WhatsHerName (1726) | 4 years ago | I try to always get a potted tree. I love driving by my old house where I raised my children, seeing the trees all in a row from previous years. We would go out and dig one up, put it in a pot and that was our tree. Some of them were quite big even. After Christmas I would drag it to the basement until Easter. Then I would bring it up and decorate it for Easter. After that out in the yard it would go. I don't like killing a tree for one day. It's fine by me that others do but I would rather have my little potted tree.
