How many episodes does it take to get hooked on a show - what hooks you?  |

 What makes a good television show for you? Are you an action junky? A romant-a-holic? How about a comedy freak? When you start watching a show, how long does it take for you to get hooked on it?
I didn't start watching Lost until about 2/3's of the way through the first season. I downloaded the pilot and was immediately smitten with the show. It was just a great idea and the characters were completely believable and the actors are all great. My only concern, which I now know was unfounded, was that "where are they going to take this? They're lost on an island, what can they possibly do now?" But that was quickly answered and before I knew it I was downloading Lost like crazy.
It was very similar to 24. What a great show. I didn't start watching this until the 3rd season, or Day 3 as they call it. I downloaded the first few episodes as a friend told me it was a great show and that I should download the first few episodes before I start watching, because once I do I'd "have" to keep watching. And he was right!
What gets me hooked to a show? It has be good, and of course that's subjective because everyone's idea of "good" is different. For me it's believable characters, a good premise and flawless execution. Whether it's a comedy or an action show or whatever, as long as it fits those three criteria, I'm hooked.

There's a rare occasion where it takes 2 or more episodes to get into it (my example would have to be Prison Break - which I now absolutely love), but most of the time it's like first impressions - you only get one chance! | |

If I watch once and I'm not sure if its just a bad episode or if its the show thats bad - i may watch it a second time. For me I like the drama sort: CSI, Law and Order, Criminal Minds, that sort of thing. I like characters that I can relate to, at the same time they must be believable for what they need to do. I also don't like predictable plots. If I can tell from the beginning what is going to happen, I'm not interested for long.

I've started out watching shows I thought were good, but 1 or 2 shows later it's not as a good as I thought, so quit watching. I like a good story line, some humor and a cast that works well together. Greys Anatomy does that for me.

Shark is a new series that I was hooked from the 1st episode. Others include all the Law and Order series, CSI and CSI NY. CSI Miami just doesn't do it for me. The 9 holds my interest too, although I can never remember the night and time it is on.

I hate cliffhangers, even though they're necessary to hold your interest from one season to the next. Though I think shows like Lost or 24 don't really have to worry about things like that. They have my attention no matter what, just like I know they have a lot of other fans' undivided attention! | |
